Music Lesson through Prince's music HELP!!!! Well, I'm a teacher and I have some homework
Can you help???? There's a unit in that book I have to teach from time to time. It's about music. The CD that comes with the book shows different music STYLES, but to tell you the truth, the samples shown there simply suck. Many of my students only listen to what the radio is playing (Jlo, Britney, Aguilera...) IF... Most definetely stopped hearing Prince at "My name is Prince" point. So for showing some samples that represent each style I usually use music from different artists... Some classic tunes easy to identify. Folk- John Denver Classical- Mozart Pop- Madonna Disco- Donna Summer- EWF Gospel- Whitney (the preacher's wife stuff) Classic Rock- Ozzy, Iron Maden... etc, etc I'd love make a compilation with the styles Prince has covered during his career... You know he had done pretty much. From the styles Prince has covered, What songs could clearly represent them??? Apart from showing real good examples of music styles, I think it would be a splendid time to show my students so many wide range of Prince music. Thanx A LOT!! Peace "America is a continent..."

I wouldn't tag EWF as disco really! admit they had single tracks like Boogie Wonderland riding on that sound, but considering all of their output in over 30 years that category won't fit at all! better choices are f.e. Donna Summer, late 70ees Bee Gees , maybe Chic (disco in a more black & funked up way) etc... but problem is, most disco acts disapeared after 1 or 2 hits when the craze faded and are not that well known nowadays Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!
