As a serious response...
Musicology succeeds in the following ways; It's a collection of Prince songs that aren't co-produced by anybody else except Prince. There's no clutter in the form of clumsy concepts, pointless segues, or C-list 'star' guests (the guests on this album have been part of the Prince camp for some time). It's the most diverse collection of songs he's put on a new, original album since Sign O The Times. It's all killer and no filler. 47 minutes of perfection, rather than 77 minutes of ups and downs. There's nothing (or at least nothing obvious) that makes any reference to Warner Bros. and how evil the record industry is (Finally, after us all having to endure ten years of it). Lyrically, it's non-judgmental, not overly religious, straightforward and positive (and not the sickly-sweet 'positive' that the Stepford Fam spew out). Musicology only fails if you're convinced that Prince should always, always record innovative music the likes of which you've never heard before. After 25+ albums, that's going to be pretty difficult for anybody.

It's a hot album from start to finish and I'm not just talking from only a fan point of view. These songs are solid and that's all I've asked for from him and he's finally done it. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I liked it. It wasn't too bad, but it wasn't as groundbreaking as his 80's works. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.
