since he wants to return to the feeling music gave us back in the day... any singles he releases need to have b-side tracks!

Then why on the package does it include "Includes the Hits Musicology and Call my Name" if they aren't meant to be singles?

Singles are DEAD, in the UK at least - the singles charts are a joke.

There's no point in them for a lot of artists - mostly they cost you money. But you can still advertise the album by:
having a video (eg Musicology)
having songs played on the radio (eg Musicology)

There's no big loss if there's no singles from Musicology - we weren't getting any B-Sides.

Are you kidding me? I would die to have the same singles charts as the UK. The major singles chart is just based on sales...and nearly everyone releases singles! You should be oh so happy that its isn't based on Clear Channel and that the titles in the Top Ten rarely change, the same people are are always near or at the top, and there is a lack of style and diversity (8/10 is R&B and there is one pop song and one actual rap song. Be happy with what you got! I'm going to give you my "How Dare You" speech.

How dare you. How dare you. How daaare you!

Its not all that important whether or not the song has an official single. Songs can chart now, as long as they are getting airplay. "Don't Speak" by No Doubt was a huge hit, and it never had a single outside of the promos sent to radio stations. The song is already getting airplay, so this really won't make much of a difference.

Yeah, but with all due respect Dave, u live in USA where ur charts are constructed COMPLETELY differently 2 the UK, let alone Europe.

Toldja the old school joint would flop.. Sony had better pull the purple plug fast.

But it's not flopping. They just won't release it. They're prematurely pulling the purple plug.

Give it up... the old goose won't get off the ground so it gets pulled cuz it can't fly.
If it ever got off the ground then it could flop and sink the album (like Rave)

Nothing premature about Sony putting this old goose got put out of its misery early. It can't compete with todays hits.

Akward enough the single is available in Germany. I thought that the UK was a better market for Prince.

Hey stu, did you type this out yourself, or was it copied and pasted? There are a few spelling and grammar issues going on, so I'm wondering if it's just b.s.... one would hope Sony would correct their shit... if not, deepest apologies!

It looks like "Call my Name" is going to be released first. With some luck maybe Sony will float "Musicology" during the summer since it didn't catch on this spring.

Natsume, I pasted the text from an e-mail that cd101.com sent me, the errors are neither Sonys nor mine.

Maybe ur right. Its a shame that Sony did everything but tie balloons to it to try to get it off the ground.

Maybe a newer album has better material.
