me and musicology ! confusion !!!

in the last week or so its felt good as a p fan goin into rec stores and.....

seeing m at the door/display of every shop ! lol

even at avalanche in glasgow which specialise in punk/metal, stockin/displayin, the disc ! eek

every time ive been in virgin ive heard an add 4 m ! lol

theres a 5 ft portrait of p in the virgin window ! lol

i heard the song m on the radio twice yesterday whilst out and about ! lol

my son scot said to me da every time i watch the music channels that new p video is on ! lol

friends are phoning me to say danny p is everywhere man, whats goin on ! lol

the album *3 in the uk charts ! lol

top ten everywhere in europe ! lol

the album is this weeks album of the week in asda !!!, a uk grocery store !!! eek

but..... imo the album is average ! its good but average nothing new we'v heard it all before !, i like it but it aint worthy of all this attention ! rave was average too but better than m, and flopped.just goes to show that being in bed with the corporations bring's in the £$, i just wish the album lived up to the hype !, the positives for me are...

1. i certainly prefer this new found "prince is still cool " attitude toward him he deserves to me remembered for the music, instead of the name change ! so keep releasing through the big guns i like it !.

2.the VIDEO, now we are talkin ! i just love this video , its got the feelgood factor. i used to b that wee boy , well i was white with reddish hair ! lol ha ha, but i feel great when i watch the vid as i cremember goin to the old skool rec stores buyin my 7in vinyl and rushing home to see what was on the b side etc. cd has taken that away ... how i long for the old days when music singles were so... much fun !

i aint no hater , i am just giving an honest opinion ! a wee bit confusing ....!

Of course the album is average, but only a true fan would know that.
I have friends who think liking PR is being a fan. They've never heard of lovesexy, much less TRC.
If we were not so aware of what P is capable of wouldn't musicology blow you away?
I think it would. One man producing this kind of music mostly by himself is pretty impressive.
That's what we've known for years, and the general public is coming to realize...again

Its not just the promotion Daniel, its the music.

I saw the video for 'The Greatest Romance Ever Sold' more (at the time) than I have seen the 'Musicology' video, right now.

It really is his best album since 1989.

I think that the Michael Jackson drama has quite a lot to do with his current popularity too. I really, really do. The media always portrayed Michael, Madonna and Prince as the holy trinity of MTV's golden age. I don't know. I can't think of a good metaphor. You know what I mean though...

Don't belittle the songs, man! Musicology, while not being 'groundbreaking',
is a very well crafted album. The songs are tight, not too over-the-top, and
generally public/radio friendly...this is exactly what he needs to do every so
often to 'pay the bills'...his last blatant attempt to do this was Rave, before that,
D & P's, before that, Batman.
It's not fair to want/expect a 'groundbreaking' effort each time out. Who could do
that? Those days were the early days, Dirty Mind, 1999, Purple Rain...Prince was raw
and trying shit out. He's done all that, and it seems that he's found his place making
well crafted songs lately. If he's happy with it, i'm happy with it. This is his trip...let
him enjoy himself, if I ain't digging the new stuff...there's always the groundbreaking
funk to enjoy.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I think you're partially right about MJ. People are noticing that P has aged with more grace than Michael, and they are responding positively. And P used to be the weird one!

As for his best album since 1989, it doesn't have the high points of his best (0(+>, TGE, TRC), but doesn't have the low points either. It's short & sweet
