Well, well! I WAS gonna org note u in reply 2 this, but seen as u dont have the common decency 2 do so yourself, Ill save myself the bother, and address it here publicly.

The pic in question (4 your information) was not taken from HQ, but sent 2 me - in these funny little things we have nowadays called E-Mails. It kinda happens occasionally, just like u used 2 do funniliy enough.

Now, I mentioned this in a previous thread 2 Aaron, that if someone scans a pic, and puts it online there will come a point where that pic will no longer be 'theirs' - How the hell am I supposed 2 know it's from u? Im not telepathic. So ur saying if I save a pic from princefams.com (yeah, I know they 'take' (and I use the term loosely) pix from all over - especially HQ) that it's MY fault 4 not knowing and giving u a credit? Gimmie a fucking break, and get over yourself.

Kinda ironic that there is one big assed pic on this thread that is most DEFINATELY from HQ - Ive had it awhile, and since the whole ridiculous, going-nowhere fast, online discussion that was had about this whole 'issue' recently I decided I wouldn't post pix anymore that I KNEW (note the underlining here, therefore pointing out plainly 4 all 2 see) were from HQ - because I just cant be bothered with the petty bitching it drags up anymore - there are more important things going on in the world, and it's an absolute waste of time.

So that pic gets posted, and nobody says a word about it. Funny thing is, a number of people have org noted me and mentioned they'd notcied it, and how long it would be before 'nana was the fall guy. So all of a sudden IM the bad guy? ...Whatever it takes 2 make ya feel good about yourselves.

I will speak for myself. Those of you who post pictures, THANK YOU! I have never been able to figure it out myself and appreciate those of you who take the time to post them. Personally, if I did post them I'd be crediting where I got them from (THE ORIGINAL PUBLICATION) and the photographer when ever possible. Otherwise, boofuckinghoo if you don't get credit for what might be called "cleaning the picture up".

'Nana, you are by no means the bad guy in this. This is such a stupid issue to be arguing over.


Had to add, in the end what could end up happening is the mods deciding they're tired of this issue and they ban pics from being posted. I, for one, will be very sad if it were to ever come to that. I love the picture thread, caption time threads, photoshop threads, etc.

To those of you who take issue, when what they feel is due credit is not given, PLEASE take it to .orgnotes and leave it out of the open forums.

Surely no-one should be credited apart from the actual photographer of the picture.
If you stick the picture up in your site's gallery - it doesn't make it your site's picture.

Unless your name is Katz, Parke, etc. or you represent WB, NPG, or any of the photo services - or unless perhaps you're someone who POSED in the damn pictures - I don't really wanna hear any complaints about what pics "belong" to whom.

Here's what I can acknowledge: If ya get a picture from another fan site and you use it on here (which I am SO not accusing anyone of doing, though yes, I also know it happens, and there's no one "victim" or "perpetrator" in this - welcome to the web, folks), it's a NICE and RESPECTFUL thing to do to say, "hey, someone posted this at HQ/the Org/wherevskis". It just shows an appreciation of that person's time and trouble to make a scan and/or to post a pic that they otherwise didn't have to post.

But on the other side of that coin, if you're the person scanning and posting the pic and you find it getting posted all over the place without a shout out to you for providing it...well...BOO HOO.

Oops - I mean, BOO FUCKING HOO.

If this is really such an indignity to you, then good. You clearly don't know how things go on the Internet, and you didn't follow the whole file-sharing controversy back when it was all the rage, because it was a similar situation, only now the people "co-opting" the art are complaining because they're not getting due credit for their thefts. WHATEVAH!

Bottom line - if you post something to the net, it's not yours anymore. You may own a copyright on it, it may be yours up and down, but guess what - people are trading it and downloading it and doing it for free, and it's YOUR DAMN FAULT for releasing it to the WWW.

PERIOD.

If that rubs you the wrong way, then talk to your nearest IT geek on ways to electronically protect your treasures on the web - it's difficult but supposedly possible - or, better yet,

DON'T POST STUFF TO THE WEB THAT YOU DON'T WANT OTHER PEOPLE TO SWIPE.

I've actually been baffled by the whole picture controversy because at the end of the day they are just pictures that you didn't take sso what in the hell is the difference who scanned it in. It's not like you can get paid for the pictures you scanned in or something.

I made a comment about Housequake taking credit for pictures that they didn't own (The Housequake logo at the bottom)the copyright to and I was met with some snotty comment about protecting the photo although imo it's not theirs to protect.

I actually came across a photo that I had never seen at my Aunts house on Easter that I can't wait to scan in for everyone and I certainly won't care if people share it without giving me props.

Those who call out Nana need to check themselves because they know damn well that they have done the exact same thing with other pictures all the time.

At the end of the day everyone needs to get a life and share all the pictures they have and forget about credit.

I never once claimed the pics I scan as MY photos..I dont put groovement.com on my pics.
I spend time posting stuff & this is the thanks I get....

Im sorry the org has no gallery..housequake.com has a Photography section..people there scan things on a daily basis.

My issue was the fact someone removed the mark I placed on the pic I scanned & posted.
Thats it...but yall have an issue with anything that has housequake on it.

And then there's this we at HQ you at the org thing I've noticed...separatism between Prince fans is so ridiculous ... come on isn't that as bad as a bunch of kindergarten students fighting over who gets to go next on the merry go round? Why don't you see that everyone that has said something about the crediting of pictures here on this thread has valid points on how this isn't something we should have such an issue with. Can you not just share with all since you share other peoples pics that you post and don't always credit? I've seen npgmc pics on HQ just recently and I know they don't like peeps to take there shit that's why you'd have to use other programs to get their images..

And Ive said it SO many times before it aint even funny: HQ are NOT the bad guys, and Aaron runs a great site, but there has 2 be some cut off point - otherwise crap like THIS happens.
