Musicology- Album of the Year Grammy? Yes, me thinks... A nomination for sure. Whether it's gonna win the award is another thing. But so far, I haven't heard any album better than this one. [This message was edited Tue Apr 27 12:39:50 2004 by Darla]

I love Musicology to death, but I don't think it'll get an album of the year nomination.
But we're not even halfway through the year, so this year COULD still suck...

I concur. So far it would be Prince vs Norah Jones for best album. That would be a gas! 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

I am, sadly, something of an armchair expert when it come to these shows (mostly the Oscars, but I do my Grammy pics every year, too).
I can almost guarantee right here and now a Best R&B Album nomination, where he'll likely be up against Usher, among others. The Grammy voting period goes through September 30th, so there's still a lot of music to be released here... At any rate, what Prince has going in his favor for anything he's up for is his "old pro" status, which has worked well in recent years for Carlos Santana and Bob Dylan and works every year (at least for a nomination) for Bruce Springsteen, Sting, James Taylor, etc. A lot of people are comparing "Musicology" to Springsteen's "The Rising" in terms of media coverage, relevance in the artist's career, etc. The bad news with that comparison is that the very deserving "The Rising" did NOT win the big one, and Springsteen did NOT pull off the huge sweep. "Don't Know Why?" Ask Norah... Lest we forget, Prince was nominated for N.E.W.S. He'll see his name on that list at least three times this year. But the big one? So hard to say. Keith/Kacey

that would be great.
wouldn't it rock if he were a host, too? yeah i know, asking a lot, but it would put him over the top

He probably will get nominated. Album of the year ?? That is a fat chance. It all depends on how well it does on the charts. He should definitely get the r&b nomination for album though.

nah i doubt it. unless it is a HUGE hit like say The Bodyguard Soundtrack than ok maybe. but i really don't think it's Album of the Year quality.

Columbia will do all they can for an Album of the Year nom. I'm hopeful that it could happen. I'm sure he will recieve at least these nods...
-Best R&B Album -Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male -Best R&B Song ('Musicology') As for Album of the Year..we'll have to wait and see..but I can garauntee an even 'older-timer' will be up there with him... LORETTA LYNN-'Van Lear Rose' released today is the[b] album critics are raving about right now. With Jack White (White Stripes) as producer and a potential sales winner....you can bet this 'Coal Miner's Daughter' will get much love come awards season. Every minute of last night is on my face today....
