The Marrying Kind/If Eye Was the Man in U're Life The way these 2 are connected reminds me of Abbey Road's 2nd side
This album will have many hits contrary to many folks opinions here I haven't heard a bad realease by him yet. Didn't you hear him when he said he want to give the audience what they need as opposed to what they want to hear???

I mostly put Jalapenos on a lot of my food.

If Eye Was the Man in U're Life should be the next single. I think it could be a big hit on R&B stations as well as pop.

Kinda hard to umm...follow isn't it? Despite it having an unusual structure and being over-the-top, I think it's the most interesting song on the album...in the long run it'll probably turn in to one of my faves.

These two were the first songs to really grab me from Musicology, maybe because they were unexpected. They're still my favorites. You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

Didn't you hear him when he said he want to give the audience what they need as opposed to what they want to hear??? Ironically, when I heard the these tracks I thought of Side 2 of Abbey Road as well. Cinnamon Girl-On The Couch give me that Abbey Road feel. The Marrying Kind/If Eye Was The Many In U're Life are among my favorites on the album.

Best song for me too!!! I really like this one!! But any comparing with Abbey Road???? The only thing is that the songs belong together, and look like one track.... i really am a huge Prince fan, but Abbey Road is the best album ever made.... you cannot compare these two!!!
the beautiful ones, you always seem to loose

I agree 100% with U r1ghteousone!. Your 2 points of UNUSUAL STRUCTURE & being O-T-T are 2 REASONS why I STILL give MAD props to PRINCE. As for these 2 tracks...I found them VERY INTERESTING on the way back from the STAPLES CENTER SHOW. Even FRANK ZAPPA was quoted as saying something very positive about PRINCE'S uniqueness & style of composition/songwriting & ZAPPA did'nt like alot of contemporary music. THANKS R1GHTEOUSONE..... Or does wanting to hear it supersede needing to hear it? It's a perfect blend either way.

Agreed. These are two great songs and they grow on you over time. My wife is from Russia and sorta new to Prince. She loves these two songs and she took a while to warm up to them. She's a trained pianist and she mentioned the multiple melodies of "The Marrying Kind." I used to like "I Was The Man" more, but I'm shifting now to the 1st one of the two. They're the first songs I can remember that approached the kind of Purple Rain energy and the flow that those songs had together. Brilliantly done Prince! And, sort of a surprise attack too. Lots of people are saying there are no big surprises on Musicology, but I think these two cuts are a coup.

I truly believe these two songs are not nearly long enough and I'm hoping there will be an extended mix of both. "If I was..." is very modern and I think it will carry well on radio. I was actually surprised and excited about that one

And then I love how Prince adds...that if he was the man in Ur life, he'd treat U right, so so right and... buy U flowers every single day.' I totally agree that "These tracks are BY FAR the most inspired and best sounding minutes on the album." Musicology

i prefer, for the moment, the duo of "a million days" and "call my name"... those two seem to go together as well.
but i just barely got the album... i could change my mind on future listenings.

HEEEEELP! Sorry guys! I'm doing my best, I've bought Musicology and I've tried really hard to listen to it again and again: The whole album just leaves me cold, that squeaky clean sound just does not do it for me. And I find The Marrying Kind really boring. Sounds nearly like some of that boring jazz rock from the early 90s. I know litres of blood has been shed on this site over recent Prince albums, and especially this one, and I don't want to start a riot here (especially as this is my 1st post on this site, ouch!) but honestly I don't understand what turns you on here. His voice seems to be more in control than ever, the instrument-playing is flawless, but that's the point: it's so smooth it makes me want to scream! Funk should be dirtier than that. I'm a big fan of all the old stuff (that is pre-diamonds & pearls), I didn't mind the rainbow children, i even think that one was better than musicology. I know, i know, you can't ask an artist not to evolve and to keep doing the same stuff again and again. But anyway that's no reason to pat old Prince on the back everytime he comes up with a new album. But i promise, I'll keep trying a couple of times. But I'll have to listen to Dirty Mind at least 5 times to give me the courage...
