REFLECTION is nice as is A MILLION DAYS..that song reminds me of something from the GOLD EXPERIENCE period...a outtake of DOLPHIN or something..but I do like A MILLION DAYS though

..I think for a mass audience, "Cinnamon Girl" would be an obvious choice...I would love to see "I,C,P&C" as a single and video....even "Reflection" may do well...God, I love that song...

I don't think any of the songs on Musicology will be hits. I'm as big a Prince fan as they come, and I think this album is the dullest thing he's ever made. We've heard it all before, only much better. I'm astounded at all the good reviews it's getting. What a crock! You mean to tell me you'd rather listen to "Musicology" than "The Rainbow Children"? or "Chaos and Disorder?" or "The Gold Experience"?

I used to inhale new Prince albums all day long. This one, I have almost no interest in hearing again. I just want to be real and say it like I believe it is. The only song I really like on the album is "Musicology", and that ain't sayin' much.

When he injects those background snippets of his old hits, it makes me think, 'now THOSE were hits'. There are no hits on this album--there is no "Kiss". There is no "Most Beautiful Girl In The World". Nothing that will be remembered 20 years from now.

Wish it weren't so, but thats' my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

No song on Musicology will be remembered as well as Kiss, Sign O The Times, Purple Rain, Raspberry Beret, Gett Off, or anything else. It's not an album of hits.

Without question, A Million Days and The Marrying Kind/If Eye Was....

A Million Days would be huge, I think, especially with a strong artistically minded video to back it up.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I think I understand where you're coming from. Just two supplements: I heard Dear Mr Man on the radio and expected a bit too much from the album. When I heard the entire album, I was astonished at it's blandness. At least there is this one song, which will be remembered, Dear Mr. Man. This song has emotion, doesn't seem fake and has a good sound and groove.

Second of all, none of this has anything to do with a hit. It all depends on the combination of Sony and Prince and their impact on the media. I don't think Prince can play the media well enough to make a hit, but recent media-appearances seem to prove me wrong. It just seems to be 'Rave' all over again, why for godssake wasn't Musicology released as a single? (Where I come from anyway.) And why didn't they postpone the album until after the single charted? Perhaps Sony only wants to promote the album and doesn't want a 'hitsingle'.

What is wrong with the people on this website who continually say the opposite of what prince is doing would be best! This album is full of hits, have u heard Usher's Cd? there is only two songs on it that could b released as a single worldwide! It may be successful in the US , but Europe will not embrace anything else on that cd. Musicology, on the other hand, is a CD that everyone can enjoy, but as prince said, it is mainly for the casual pop listener, the mainstream, not the hardcore fanbase who have already bought these songs in one form or another! Musicology is like prince saying , hey look what you all missed! The casual listener will hear A million days and say "wow, what a great song" , they wont say " oh thats crap, sounds like that Dolphin shit from the Gold Experience"!

As far as Musicology being another Rave, have u checked out just how many copies musicology has sold this week! Its his highest 1st week sales ever! He is on course to sell 250,000 cds in the US alone this week, if u count the 40-50,000 sales in the UK and sales throughout the rest of the world, this week he may have sold half a million records!

He hasnt even released an album that has sold that much in total since TGE, yet he has surpassed that in one week!

As far as the hits go, this cd is packed, "Cinnamon Girl" if promoted properly could be prince's "billie jean". It has worldwide appeal and lyrically its v up2date! Call my Name is his best love song of the last 10yrs and could b a "Nothing Compares 2u" sized hit!

i dont think reflection could b a single though, its a great song, a classic, but its not marketable in the same way as say "illusion, coma", "life o the party could b a big hit in the UK i think!

I'm the closest to claiming something to be the best, so I guess you're referring to me. smile You're making my point. Sony probably wants the album to be a hit, not a specific single.

I highly doubt it, on both accounts. Then again, I lost my ability to predict a hit some ten years ago. But looking at the strategy, it resembles Norah Jones more then Usher. Norah aims at album sales, where Usher is for the kiddies who buy singles.

Back to the topic, I would say release 'The marrying kind'! smile
