Are you sick and tired of "Kiss?" The first time I heard "Kiss" Iw as hooked. The crazy stripped down production, the "Papa's Got a Brand NEw Bag" funk with Mick Jagger and SMokey Robinson vocals. Awesome and totally funny lyrics.
It's a shame that now that all the smoke has cleared Prince is best known for "Kiss" and Michael Jackson has "Billie Jean." I'm a little tired of Kiss, and really think he has much better funkier more relevant songs. ______________________________________________

That all depends on who you talk to. Well he seems to be playing it at most of his TV gigs and it's really the most played song on retro radio. I hear Let's Go Crazy, Take Me With U and Kiss. Hardly ever hear the others. ______________________________________________

But in general his '80s top 10 hits usually are still the most played. I hear "Kiss" a lot too, but it's not what I hear most. Whatever gets played most it's likely that hardcore fans will get sick of it eventually. ` [This message was edited Mon Apr 26 19:00:56 2004 by Supernova] This post not for the wimp contingent. I never tire of the recorded version of "Kiss" but I do get tired of hearing it on every tour. The live versions are okay but they can't touch the original.

The songs I've always heard the most (on radio) are Little Red Corvette, When Doves Cry, Raspberry Beret, and Kiss.

Hell fucking no, I still love Kiss. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

My sentiments exactly. He's re-worked it like twenty times or so live, none of them has worked. It's time to stop.

I'd rather hear a full version of When Doves Cry. Forget about the idiots who pout if they go to a show and don't hear Purple Rain. Expecting Prince to play Purple Rain year after year is the same as expecting the Stones to do Satisfaction every year. Or expect Springsteen to do Born to Run year after year for 20 years.

Then quit listening to it.
And no, I don't think Prince is best known for "Kiss." Try "1999" or "Little Red Corvette" or even "When Doves Cry" or "Purple Rain." I've heard and seen "Little Red Corvette" on the radio and television more than any other Prince tune. And I understand it may be different in different parts of the world or country.

Hahaha! can't hold myself now!!! the music expert has spoken..... OK, here's my recommendation for Prince: eliminate ALL that fucking Rock guitar shit from every song/arrangement past, present & future! instead spice it up with as much big band & funk horns as U can get!! Guitar?!??! urghhh!!! absolutely noone needs to hear that fucking crossover trash anyway. after all there's enuff talentless farts producing boring rock crap to satisfy the trashy audience, U know all those teeny 'wannaberebels' I'm talking about.. Manson, Metallica, Kid Rock, Kurt 'Nirvana' Blowbrain, Limp Bizkit, Aerosmith, GnR and whatever those shitty gangs call themselves LMAO think of it Prince, there's absolutely no need for more of that dull & tiresome bullshit, continue to give us some real musicianship instead pleeezeeee! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! CRAP! oh yes, coming back to the topic now: I love "Kiss" in any version out there! I get tired of it at times. I still enjoy the song, but it is soo overplayed on oldies stations that I'm kinda tired of it.
Although, now, I do find myself humming the new bassline and hornline that is in the new arrangement on the Musicology tour. The new arrangement brought new life to the old song...for me at least. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

If I recall correctly Prince didn't even like Kiss or think it would be a hit when he made it. It turned out to be one of his biggest commercial hits, which is why it's on the radio all the time and heard at concerts so much. It's still one of my favorites. Everybody I know that isn't a Prince fan associates him with 1999 or Purple Rain anyway. I'm back!!!!!!!

I'm really bummed when he does kiss and doesn't do the rhythm guitar himself. Apart from that, Kiss rules.

"Kiss" has this amazing ability to transcend the time period in which it was written. For me, it is a sublime little slice of pop heaven...as much now as it ever was.
