How did the Camille term for the pitch-shifted singing come about? Was it an album credit or something?

But if we're only talking tracks CREDITED to Camille, or from Camille projects Those are -Rebirth Of The Flesh -Housequake -Strange Relationship -Feel U Up -Shockadelica -Good Love -If I Was Your Girlfriend -Rockhard In A Funky Place -Scarlet Pussy -U Got The Look Sure there are lots of sped up/slowed down voice tracks, but they aren't 'Camille' tracks. And I think "Let Me Lick Your Pussy" could be included if we're just talking about all songs with the altered voice. Anyone else dig this song? Never heard mention of it...just assumed it was another version of Shockadelica.

The CAMILLE album:
1. "Rebirth Of The Flesh" (Unreleased) 2. "Hosuequake" (Same as the Sign o' the Times version) 3. "Strange Relationship" (Same as the Sign o' the Times version) 4. "Feel U Up" (Same as the "Long Stroke" on the Japanese 3" CD of "Partyman".) 5. "Shockadelica" (Same as the extended version from the "If I Was Your Girlfried" 12 inch single.) 6. "Good Love" (Same as the version on the "Bright Lights, Big City" soundtrack.) 7. "If I Was Your Girlfriend" (Same as the Sign o' the Times version except that the wedding intro isn't included.) 8. "Rockhard In A Funky Place" (Same as the Black Album version) -- Other Camille songs: "Scarlet Pussy" "U Got The Look" -- "Sex" ("Scandalous" b-side) is deifnitely in the Camille voice but credited as "Produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince with Levi Seacer, Jr."

Couldn't "Partyman" be considered as a Camille-song, although it's not credited as Camille? Just like "Love Or $"? "Don't hate me 'cuz I'm fabulous!"

Peace Nah - that's not a Prince/Camille track - although it does contain Prince samples. It's by Ween - HUGE Prince fans, who took it upon themselves 2 honour the man with the track: 'LMLYP'. It's great, highly amusing fun tho!

I always heard "L.M.L.Y.P." as half tribute and half parody of Prince's oeuvre, like Beck's "Debra", since it seems to poke fun at the more outrageous aspects of his work. Are Ween seriously fans? You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

Thanks Pook, always wondered.
"Feel U Up" = one of my favorite B-sides and one of my favorite songs all around from that era. What is the technique he used to make the Camille vocal? Is it sped-up, pitch shifted, or is there more processing than that? You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

I was just getting ready to say that. I think "Love or $" actually inspired the whole "Camille" lp, but the sped up vocal gimmick existed before Prince was doing it. "Camille" I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

"Camille" 'Erotic City' had sped-up and slowed-down vocals. 'Come On' had a "Camille" type voice. Aren't the background vocals on 'I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man' credited to Camille?

They actually slowed down the 24-inch tracking tape via the tape machine and Prince recorded his vocals as it played half speed, so that when the 24 inch tracking tape was played back at normal speed, the vocals were the only 'sped up' element.
