..If he shows up on "Black Beat" or "YM" magazine I'll become a Hillary Duff roadie psykosoul said: The majority of self-righteous "die-hards" don't know what they want from Prince. At this point in his career it's pointless to say "I wish Prince would..." Many have become so bitter and set in their ways that instead of distinguishing their likes from their dislikes, it's easier to categorize the bulk of it as "shit", "crap", "dull", "boring" etc. The sad thing is that I never see 1/2 of the stuff posted about other over the hill acts ...(Any act over 30 is over the hill)... Bowie, The Stones, Aerosmith, Stevie Wonder on their respective web sites... none of them make the same music that they used to make 20 years ago but they don't get nearly as much of the back-lash that Prince fans dish out. Is that the price of not being one-dimensional?
nice observation. Can it be all summed up in the fact that to many Prince does not look older thus people are still putting him up against the current trend of the year. Case in hand: 1980 Prince vs Rick James vs Stevie Wonder; 1983 Prince vs MJ; 1986 Prince vs El Debarge; 1988 Prince vs Keith Sweat/Al B. Sure(R&B) vs Fine Young Cannibals(rock); 1991 Prince vs Teddy Riley and Babyface vs Color Me Badd; 2004 Prince vs Usher(WTF) vs Nora Jones. My point being that Prince has been in competition for best new act from 1979 to 2004. He seems to not become an old artist. He's gracing newspaper life sections and grocery check out magazing front pages like he did 20 years ago. If he shows up on "Black Beat" or "YM" magazine I'll become a Hillary Duff roadie | |
