Choose the Singles from Musicology - The Marketing Game

I'm not sure who exactly makes the decisions on which tracks are singles and such; Prince or some promotions guy? But, if I was in charge I'd push:

"A Million Days" to pop radio with support of a sperformance oriented band video.

"Call My Name" to R&B with a "sexy" video; like "Insatiable" etc..

Then push...

"If I Was the Man in Your Life" to both pop and R&B outlets with a sexy video co-star like Beyonce or Alicia Keys; guaranteed video play.

The finally finish up the campaign...

"Life O the Party" to pop radio with a video culled from concert footage.

and

"Illusion, Coma, Pimp and Circumstance" to R & B with a storyline black-and-white video; maybe like "Under the Cherry Moon."

Then, onto the next album.

And y'all?

How would you do it?

A Million Days. This video would NOT have a performance in it - it would definitely have storyine about breakup/makeup, etc. I'm thinking that HE should not even be in it . . . just real actors.

Call My Name: This video WOULD have a performance. I envision his at a closed rehearsal, and checking either his 2-way pager or cellphone. Then, when he can't get in touch with her, and is about to leave, she walks in . . .

Cinnamon Girl: Another video that he might not even be in. Just a montage of social/war images (but with a positive spin).

Reflection: I picture Prince being chauffered around a ghetto (his childhood neighborhood) and visiting his old house. He meets the current owners, and even sees his bedroom (flashback to childhood memories). Throughout the whole video is a sense of melancholy.

That's it. The other songs are not single-worthy, IMO.

Realistically... there are maybe 2 more singles on that album.... although I enjoy much of the album, it is NOT a commercially appealing album.

IMO the next 2 singles SHOULD be...

1. Cinammon Girl

2. A million Days

if we're lucky maybe squeeze out another in Call my name.

Life O' The Party, although kinda funky, doesn't translate well to the masses I think and neither do most of the rest of the songs. Reflection, uhhh, maybe, but the first 2 I mentioned are the strongest remaining trax.

Most albums today only get maybe 3 singles at best and then you have the Britney's who will get about 5.

Musicology was already picked, so can't do anything about that. But starting with the 2nd single...

A Million Days

ICPC

Cinnamon Girl/Call My Name (CG to pop radio, and then r&b for CMN obviously)

The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

I would like "CAll My Name" or "Cinamon Girl" 2 b the next single!
Cinnamon Girl of mixed heritage
Never knew the meaning of color lines
9/11 turned that all around
When she got accused of this crime

So began the mass illusion
War on terror alibi
What’s the use when the god of confusion
Keeps on telling the sa
