Cinnamon Girl reminds me of Private Joy, which reminded me of Dirty Mind. So Far So Pleased reminded me of When U Were Mine.

Cinnabon Girl coulda been left off the album as far as I'm concerned. So I'll go with So Far... If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

i like So Far So Pleased better. but i really don't see much similarity.
Cinnamon Girl sounds much more like Damned If I Do to me. and if that's the song it's going up against, Cinnamon Girl wins by a mile. "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

CINNAMON GIRL
I think this new album has allot flavor like Sign O Times mixed with Purple Rain! Sign O Times : the sound, the recording of it! The drums, Lyrics ,etc Purple Rain: Radio friendly length hits! Catchy Singles & allot of music video quality songs

I don't hear "So Far..." in "Cinnamon Girl" at all!
Maybe that's because I don't particularly care for "So Far So Pleased." I like the song Prince did with No Doubt on their Rock Steady disc WAY more than the one Stefani did with him on his. So my pick is DEFINITELY "Cinnamon Girl." Keith/Kacey

Cinnamon Girl, hands down.
So far just kinda irritates me. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

no no no no no.
so far, so pleased beats cinnamon girl any day of the week, and in IMO baby knows beats a million days.... Remeber when rave came out??? all of you guys out there were loving so far. so pleased saying prince had finally returned to form... now i'm not saying Musicology isn't good because it jams but....rave was also good.. Rave suffered because when the annoucment of the Arista Deal came, we had TGRES (still a rocking jam....go listen) but NO VIDEO! the single was in stores!.....and NO VIDEO!....when he went on "TRL" to promote....he had a sore throat and couldn't sing...remember??? then BMG heads wanted prince to go overseas and do a promo tour in europe to support the album.... Musicology is a case of everything coming together like it should, prince does the grammys gets his name out there in a BIG way, say's i have an album & tour coming soon, does Leno, Ellen, Tavis....and the R&R HOF....another annoucment of a Major Label Deal, this time with Columbia, and there's a GOOD video to go with the song!!! 3 weeks before the album drops in stores MTV, VH1 & BET are playing it, and it doesn't hurt that he's selling out arena's across the country either...folks imagine if this was 1999.....this is what would have been for rave!

I am prejudiced against any of the guest star songs on Rave. They were so contrary to his usual way of working that it just smacked of desperation. That said, I thought SFSP was audio cotton candy, sweet inoffensive fluff that dissolved on the palate without a trace. There's just no basis for comparison with CG- it has musical and lyrical susbstance.
God, why am I posting in a VS thread? You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

God, why am I posting in a VS thread? Good point though. So Far, So Pleased is just superficial pop without any sentiment. Cinnamon Girl is a pop song, but it actually has substance, and that adds to its overall charm. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Same here. Everyone else loves Cinnamon Girl, but it don't do much for me at all. I really like So Far, So Pleased though. I don't love it, I just really like it. Cinnamon Girl I don't like at all.

Cinnamon Girl by far altho I certainly love So Far So Pleased, Cinnamon just has so much more substance musically. Lyrically it is much more "well thought out" than the So Far. Cinnamon is the "pop-political-Beatle-ish" song that only Prince can and will produce.

Rave is much better than Musicology..although I would take off a couple on both and much others here n there... hey... here' swhat I would do.. Rave Un2 Joy Fantastic The Greatest Romance So Far So Pleased Tangerine (extended) Hot Wit U or Vavoom Man O War Cinnamon Girl Call My Name Silly Game On The Couch Dear Mr. Man Strange But True Whatever U Go Whatever U Do Prettyman Undisputed remix as hidden track OR maybe Musicology wudda went like dis.. Musicology Illusion Coma Pimp... Life O The Party So Far So Pleased Call My Name Baby Knows A Million Days Cinnamon Girl What Do U Want Me 2 Do? The Marrying Kind If Was The Man In Yo Life Reflection hmm Van Gough wudda been nice and Underneath The Cream on one of these sets 2 Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Well, Underneath The Cream wasn't recorded until at least a year after Rave was released...
I'm not sure what you mean, PP4, when you say that "they are all Rave haters now." I came to appreciate Rave for what (IMO) it was...a flawed album and a failed commercial comeback attempt that has some damn good songs on it - Strange But True, Man O War, um...I'm sure there are others. Oh yeah, certainly I Love You But... But then again, HOT WIT U???!!! What a depressingly crappy song (again, IMO). Most of the Prince fans that I happen to know (myself included) were WAY less than thrilled with Rave when it came out, and have since grown to appreciate certain songs, if not the album as a whole. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

still trying to figure out why in the hell SFSP was not released as the lead single from that album. Dumb move....really dumb move. It would have been an instant hit on top 40, especially with a nice video with Gwen.

I like Rave a lot, but the problem with it is that a lot of the songs that happen to not be good on it aren't just bad, they're some of the worst songs he's ever done. Great songs off Rave... I Love U But... Strange But True Wherever U Go... Man 'O' War The Sun, the Moon, and Stars Good songs off Rave... The Greatest Romance Silly Game Baby Knows Prettyman Tangerine Average songs off Rave... Rave... So Far, So Pleased Terrible songs off Rave... Everyday... Undisputed Hot Wit U See, it has a lot of really solid songs, and a few fantastic ones, but those terrible tracks are downright abysmal. It's just too uneven an album to ever be considered great.
