u can think what you want but musicology doesn't have the urgency of prince album

every prince album had some kind of urgency and quirkines,
every album except musicology.
that album is playing safe all along.to me the raibow children cd had that
feel that when u listen to the music.
feeling like that had lovesexy and none of the albums after that, althought those albums were good.

You can't duplicate the urgency and ambition of your youth, it simply isn't possible.

Still, Musicology sounds like an album of great songs by an artist who's happy and confident in his position as a musical icon. Prince sounds like he's having fun on this album, and the music is easily accessible and clever.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

When you say urgency it reminds me of the dense, multilayered sound of Parade and Lovesexy. To me they sound like he had so many ideas and so many things to express that he couldn't possibly cram them all onto one album. He may not innovate like that with every track he records but I do still hear some of it on Musicology
You better wake up, Stella. This is my town!

I think the poster could be referring to the feelings of urgency as in The Beautiful Ones. The pleading...the desperation.

I happen to agree that there isn't a sense of urgency on this album. It's much more laid back..to the point...matter of factly. I think it's part of the strength of the album. The boy has been pleading for so long. The only song IMO that has any thing close to urgency is A million days. Though he sort of pleads...coyingly...in On the Couch.

Musicology is just an empty fluff album with no soul. It's Prince's idea of what his commercial style should be.

Exactly, I can think what I want.

And what I think is right.

Musicology is Prince's best album since The Rainbow Children.

Yeah, both those albums suck.

you really are an evil bastard.

lol

If you were a musician, you'd know just how much skill it took to put that album together and also the depth of the songwriting.

Your beloved Emancipation on the other hand, took much less skill, I can tell you.

It's comforting to me to know you're in the minority, Evil.

Evil is a palindrom of Live.....so why don't you turn yourself around and do just that...you might find you're no longer in the minority and that you've missed out on some genius music.

Or, just stay evil and alone. Whatever.

I don't need to like Musicology or TRC to feel fulfilled when it comes to music, there's tons of other stuff to listen to. And so what if I'm in the minority here? I'm the majority in the real world outside of the org, where most people don't care for this type of music.

Also, I do play music and I do have an appreciation for the amount of skill that goes into creating a song. But when the man who created so many amazing tracks keeps producing crap, I'm gonna have some words about that.

"Musicology" is the shape of what a recent Prince album should sound except "Rainbow children", a sort of mix of "rave" ,"chaos and disorder", "friends4sale"....
