While I was watching the video clip of the CNBC Interview that Prince did with Maria Bartiromo, they listed some songs that Prince wrote for other people and one of them was You Dropped A Bomb On Me, by The Gap Band!!! That is one of my all time fave funk tracks, but in the songwriting credits on a CD I have it shows Charles Wilson/Lonnie Simmons/Rudy Taylor. And it was dated 1982.

Could Prince have actually ghost-written this track and given the song-writing credits 2 these guys???

simple. i think they got it wrong.

If I remember correctly, that was a list where you had to EXCLUDE songs
which he didn't write...I've got it on tape, I'll check back wit cha.

coming back from commercial, they placed the same screen, but
number 2 was "grey'd out"...wrong choice.

In your defense though, the color change wasn't very drastic...so it appears that
nothing changed, causing some confusion (on your part ).

But it wouldnt surprise me though!!
It does sound rather Princeish!! And it is in keeping with the theme of some of his songs about making love undertoned with war (ala Crystall Ball, 1999)

I very much doubt he did. The only close connection I offer is that they perhaps linked Prince's name to that of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. They'd been collaborating on material in 1982 which they felt didn't fit the sound or image of that of The Time. During 1982 they recorded 'High Hopes' for the SOS Band and 'Wild Girls' for Klymaxx, and they were asked to produce tracks for the two groups. Having said that, I've found no mention that they worked on Gap Band material. So overall, I guess I'm really clutching at straws with my contribution here!
