one problem with Musicology (the album)

i really like it.

however.

toward the beginning, at the "first" segue...

is it just me, or is it a little awkward having the song Musicology end with "don't you hear this old school joint? don't you ever touch my stereo" (or whatever he says) followed immediately by the acapella singing "he said i...." etc., then the radio tuning, then the lead-in to ICP&C? it's like having 3 different segues in a row

he should have taken out the acapella singing, and just had the radio dial start right after "don't you ever touch my stereo" ... would make more sense.

in fact, i think i'm going to do it that way. and move the singing portion to the end of the song, between Life O The Party and Call My Name

i know it's just a minor thing, but it's been nagging at me every time i listen to the album for the last few weeks. had to get it off my chest biggrin

thank you. that is all.

At least 17 Days gets props in the segue...

I'm just glad it's the only segue on the album.

Damn segues, I hate 'em.

Nah, you should put "He said I..." right before "Life O the Party", after the radio thing.

I stand corrected. Well, I've only had it a week which means I've probably listened to it about 10-12 times, so I'm not familiar with all it's nuances (and segues) yet. Either that or I have coincidentally been in the kitchen feeding the cat every time that segue played.

Thats more of a contiuation on 2 Marrying Kind rather than a segue, like "Into The Light" in2 "I Will" on Chaos and Disorder.

no, If I Was The Man In Ur Life is the continuation of The Marrying Kind (a la Into The Light/I Will).

there is a segue with a woman speaking italian between WDUWM2D and The marrying Kind.

to me it sounds like the music behind the segue where the italian women is speaking is 'girl from ipenemna' or whatever that cheezy jazz song is. i think it sounds good.

i aslo remember reading about a month ago that prince woke up everyone at a LA hotel playing girl from ipeneman(sp??) really loudly

has anyone noticed this except for me?

no i noticed that too! its not girl from ipanema playing but its that sort of style, wonder if he stuck it on in reference to that. theres plenty of weird little things that make you wonder what secret little thing hes on about. reminds me about the rolling stoned interview in 85 where he said he loved the fact djs had played the backwards speech at the end of darling nikki on the radio to see what it says properly, and he said he would always put little stuffl ike that in, like the cough before raspberry beret, so i imagine it might be something like that? it works well anyway cos it kicks in straight away after that so it kinda acts like a build up
