What was your first Prince concert?

I have mentioned before that my first Prince concert was on the Controversy tour at the Santa Monica Civic in Feb 1982. I've seen Prince upteen times since then including the Lovesexy tour in Holland. Which was wonderful, because the European fans truly adore The Kid. I saw him again on the Lovesexy tour at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles and the show in Holland was so much better I think because of the wild reception the Dutch fans gave. So Prince really put it on them. By that point, I had seen Prince in different stages of his career, so I knew when Prince was truly showing out. My favorite concert of all though was Prince on his 1999 tour on Mar 28, 1983. It was the day before my birthday and it was a birthday gift. I later seen Prince on the 1999 tour in Long Beach when Vanity 6 and The Time opened for them. Prince took The Time off the Mar 28 show and Vanity 6 was the only opener. But that night, the place was packed with celebrities. Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Nicks, LaToya and Janet Jackson, Linda Blair. These were just the people that I had seen. Again, Prince showed out. At times, Prince looked possessed. Out of all the concerts, that to me was his best performance. His singing, his playing , all over the stage, he was a mad man. He played like his life depended on it.

The "1999" tour way back in the day when I was 12 years old.

[EDIT]

I also saw him in 1997 right after Crystal Ball was released and I will be seeing him one week from today in B'ham.

Lovesexy, Madison Square Garden, October 88.
I remember sitting a row behind the host of MTV's Remote Control, if you can remember that show.

Well, I didn't have a great time at first. The vibe was off- the arena was only about 2/3 full, which was sad to see so soon after Purple Rain.
I was with two friends who didn't know anything before 1999 ("What song is that? and that? and that?" - throughout the first set).
And Prince kept missing his free throws.
But the second set had the big hits and things picked up, and we all left with smiles on our faces.

The best part of the day was that I scored a vinyl copy of the Black Album before the show.
Now that got much play on the old turntable!

Purple Rain (1985) New Orleans, LA. (Superdome)

I was dressed in full Prince attire, except for the hair, didn't know much about relaxers at age 18.

Purple Rain saw Every show at Nassau Coliseum Except the All Age one in the day. It was Amazing. He had Previewed Raspberry Beret. Shelia Opened Up for him and he had Appolonia,Paul Petterson and other Purple Rainers there. What a Great 6 shows. But just like the Celebration it was 7. I will Never forget it. I was a Teenager in High School and all my friends asked me Tons of questions. I dyed my bangs Purple and had it swept to the side like Wendy's. He was Amazing and did HOW COME U DON'T Call Me AnYmore while Crawling on the floor and asking about Your Man's Ass. Girls threw Bras Onstage and he was Unfazed. he had that Guitar that shot Purple Lazer Water. He just was The Best and he Still hasn't Changed. I Ran to the Village and Scooped Up every Record I could of his. A Stage Hand gave me a Purple Tambourine. It was so Wonderful. I was in Heaven....

Your'e right, baby. You know something, I might have even seen you. What were you wearing? If you were a "rude girl", you know, Prince buttons, bandanna, etc., and in Cali, I might have even met you. We had the "rude boy/rude girl" clique going on then in L.A.
