"One Night Alone" tour

Okay...is it just me, or am I the only one NOT excited about this tour? I didn't dig TRC at all. Infact, its collecting dust along side C&D. I mean, will I go just because it's PRINCE!?! Is that fair? He hasn't put out any good music in years. With the exception of his beliefs in god, spoken bible passages infront of jazz or R&B fluff thats put out there just to feed us. No wonder so many of us have boots of his music.

Just wanted to see if most ppl are going because of the music...or because its him.

Or is it just me?

he's not gonna play only TRc material. He performed Strange Relationship, Other Side of the Pillow and other stuff recently.
I would infact be VERY excited about an only TRC stuff tour! I love the album.

can i ask one question here - i'm in the UK and checked out tickets.com presale for the US shows to get an idea of where the priority seating is, and couldn't help but notice the cost of tickets to one of the shows was $125!!!

is this normal?! i know last time he toured the UK in 98 tickets were edging dangerously close to £40 ($60approx)...please say he isn't expecting us to shell out £50-60 plus to see him....

Agreed. Some of the other venues have slightly lower prices but still way over-priced. At least that what I thought until I checked back last night and saw that he was selling these small theaters out in a flash! I guess maybe the US economy is coming back to life after all.

Los Angeles show at the Hollywood Palladium? This is too easy. I can walk down the hill from my house to the show. There's a cool bar called "well" across the street from the Palladium on Argyle St. Who wants to meet there for drinks before the show?

I agree LetsGoCrazy.

I was highy concerned about the prices of USA shows 2! But past experience has shown me that gigs in the states are normally higher in price. However the prices posted recently do seem very high. Prince is probably gonna play venues like Brixton Academy, The Kentish Forum etc. So I guess we'll have 2 c.

YOU did not like this album but I and a hell of a lot of others LOVED IT !!!!

You remember Emancipation... where everyone said
that if the set was cut to a single disc with 10 songs, it would be classic ? Well no one could agree on the 10 songs !

The diff here is that he's getting phenomenal reviews for this album (TRC). You mention Chaos and Disorder as another disc that collects dust for you... 1/2 of that album is some of his best stuff according to me. The stuff seemed so un-planned - like he went inwith an idea, recorded it and said 'screw it' and just released it.

Anyhow.. TRC and the pianos songs on the final NPGMC show have got me super HIGH !

$125 is unfortunately about right for good seats at a concert.
Prices also vary depending on venues sometimes.

First of all anyone who believes that there won't be a setlist is naive. Doesn't anyone remember the last "Hit and Run" tour? He promised the same thing; I seem to remember virtually every show had the same set list. It's just his way of trying to sell more overpriced tickets.

It's called the "One Night Alone" tour, so technically he isn't even promoting the Rainbow Children directly. Still, I think it will be a cool mix of new stuff and rarely played older songs, maybe rearranged.

As far as the prices go, yes they are ridiculously high, but if you want to see Prince up-close in a small venue, then it's worth it. If he was playing arena's, there is no way I would pay that much. But for small theaters...yes, I paid the $125 to be up front at the Chicago show. I imagine the Las Vegas finale will be the most expensive on the tour, and that's the other show I hope to catch!
If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.

Well, it looks like I, yet again, won't get to see Prince. I'm not whining, just lamenting. The closest he's coming to me is Houston, and he's playing on a Tuesday. All this combined with the high ticket price has forced me to forgo the tour yet again. , Maybe next time!

I know this was posted on the old org already...but can someone post the play lists from the most recent Paisley performances? Maybe those sets would be close to what might be played at this upcoming tour.

if prince plays at a venue without seating (eg Brixton Academy etc) what will the score be with priority seating? Any fans in the US able to answer this - is it simply a case you get an early shout on tickets?...

He did that last year at the Hollywood Palladium. I had never been there. I saw he was coming to LA so I joined NPG music club right away so I could get close tixs. I get there the night of the show and there were no seats, no sound check, no nothing. I was pissed.
