i would say yes. in some ways.
many talk of musicology as something youve heard before, a safe comeback cd. might be true, but sine i heard ILLUSION, COMA, PIMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE the first time i felt this was new. have never heard his voice like it sounds in that chorus. it sounds very nice and kind of desperate and fun at the same time. very cool. the ongoing dim dim dim sound has a reminisence of the b-side SEX, though, but it is my favorite track of the new cd. the outro with the guitar is kind of sign the times , but in a new fresh and on the other hand unsimilar way.
i guess the more relaxed sounding prince is a new thing too, dear mr. man, reflection... lyrics about really taking it slower and just ease up and enjoy simple life situations...

by the way, which track is to be next single. anyone knows ? I, C, P & C would be da bomb !

What does innovative mean? Something Prince has never done before? Not really. But it seems like 1000 years ahead of it's time compared to what's on the radio today.
