Prince in large venues

Is it just me or are there others who find listening to their most loved artist performing in a large venue torture? Prince is coming to Philly and I just can't pull myself to buy tickets. The venue holds at least 20,000 and I'm sure the acoustics will suffer in a venue that large. While I understand it's a toss between sound quality and profits, my advice to Prince is to offer a concert to his supporters who demand high quality in their listening pleasure.

i agree, the small places are better

but you know what

nothing beats the excitement of over 20,000 going absolutely crazy.....so they both have their advantages!

The Wachovia Center is a state of the art arena. I saw Prince there in 98, and I thought that the sound was going to suffer also, but to my amazement the sound was fantistic. I just wish that I could have had better seats. The sound was great though.

If you get in the good seats, no prob. Be sure to get your tix early. The sound in the round is great this time around.

That was the ONA tour. Hope you saw it.

On this one, I found the sound at Staples to be horrible. Basteball arenas are always going to be a bitch, but they can be made to sound good, even this one. Plus being in the round adds a new set of acoustic problems, perhaps even insurmountable ones. I hope Scottie's got it licked by now. But I doubt it.

All that said, the show is still worth seeing.

Trust me...you don't want to miss this tour! lol If you have seats on the floor or lower bowl sections of the arena, you should be fine. I would actually suggest lower bowl seats on the sides of the arean, about 5-20 rows up, because you have an unobstructed view of the stage!

If u dont go, not only are u gonna miss a fun ol' party with like-minded folks, but how the hell u gonna know? confuse

A lot of venues nowadays have electronic correctional equipment 2 alter a venues acoustics. I think ur cutting ur nose off 2 spite your face as the old saying goes...

GO! Have fun. Live a little.

I agree. The sound and sight lines are better from a little ways away. Take some binoculars and jam out!!
