i doubt WB is going to fork over the money to have any more of Prince's albums re-certified gold, platinum, diamond, etc. ever again, unless he starts playing nice with them.

you have to pay for those certifications and awards.

i must admit that i find it funny that for all princes 'going independent' and teaming up with sony, he can't help but bring in the profits for WB.

i really thing prince needs to reliase that re-negotiating with WB (for re-issues, digital remasters, live CD's of each tour, etc) could benefit both and give him what he cares most about.

ownership of those darn masters. - cuz, whatever prince does apart from WB, it's only makin' em money...

it would be nice if he could get the Gold Experience back and put it back into production because that album being out of print is a crime!

a few years back i had a link to the soundscan charts (not the billboard) but the actual soundscan chart..it was very interesting...you have old albums that are still in the top 100 chart that billboard takes out and puts in their pop catalog instead...The Very Best Of Prince is ahead of a few albums that recently dropped off the top 100 album chart like the Simple Plan album so i figure if Billboard included it on the regular album chart it would rank about #105 or so this week

On the CNBC interview the other day, he said that he was in talks with WB but didn't specify why. I'm hoping that means that they are negotiating over remastering the back catalog.

i just hope they retain ownership. that way, there's someone to tell him "NO FUCKING WAY" when he wants to overdub and edit old, dirty stuff.

pray please, god, don't let prince own his masters.

and before anyone gets on their high horse about artists controlling their work and all of that shit, just remember 1999-The New Master and keep your mouth shut thumbs up!

Exactly, for instance, I own everything Prince ever released and still when I picked up my copy of Musicology I picked up another copy of Around the World in a Day because America skipped on my current copy--I saw it as one for Prince and one for WB. sad
But fuck em, I also got a copy of NEWS because my dad loves jazz and I figured he would dig it razz
BTW I am listening to Magnificent right now--this song rocks!
I wish u heaven
