the thing with prince.... (withdrawal symptoms)

it is happening again....

having bought musicology yesterday and listening to it 4 or 5 times since I must say this.

throughout the first listening i was almost embarrassed that i was, age 32, listening to this lame, badly produced and incoherent release. despite that awful feeling, a few hours after that first listening it started.... withdrawal symptoms.. .... my head spinning and craving to hear it again, ICP&C (wouw, that sounds fresh and his vocal in a way i have never heard it), call my name and the others that I dont yet have a an general view on.... been puttin' it on instantly, in my computer, on my stereo, in my discman.

listening to it right now i must say it is a huge GROWER....

like any other GOOD and full-bodied album by any artist it takes time....
strange to get into at first, but man, a nice nice nice and lovely sounding prince album, that I really needed after so much suffering with strange releases, with good things on them for sure, but this is nice.
every prince record you need to get into, understand and comprehend on your own and on its own basis.
even dear mr man sounds cool at the moment.

thoughts on the GROWER thougt, and the withdrawal symptoms. somebody out there feeling them ?

I am feeling it all the time....it's the only thing I listen to in the truck. Just like before, it's more Deja Vous than withdrawl; more oh yeah here we go again; more like a fix that I knew was out there but didn't dare to want for fear of getting hooked all over again.

We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.

I liked the album immediately but I do feel you when you talk about it growing on you. The songs that didn't hit me are starting to grow on me like Cinnamon Girl. I can't get it out of my head. Now I'm letting people hear the CD. Let's hope that they feel this CD or want to keep hearing it so that it grows on them too.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Anxiety

This album smacked me upside the head upon arrival, which is something that hasn't happend with a new P album in YEARS. I've had it less than a month and I'm already having to take a vacation from it due to listening to it so much.
