Since when does Prince play 'Cream'?

Reports coming out of the Musicology tour say Prince is playing Cream acoustically. I thought he was forbidden because of his religious beliefs, and had sworn never to play it without Rosie Gaines. And just how do you play Cream acoustically anyway?

I don't think he's too forbidden judging by some of the lyrics in On the Couch, and you're thinking of Diamonds and Pearls regarding Rosie not Cream. Oh, and you'll have to wait and see I guess to see how Cream sounds.

How long do you think it'll be before a Musicology boot surfaces? I'm thinking three months.

This isn't a sexual song, it ain't that type of party!
Cream, as in "the cream rises to the top"...it's a song about being the best
you can be...sha boogiebop.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This just proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that some Prince fans really don't have a clue. The fact that the question is being raised as if Prince is somehow doing something wrong by playing Cream just shows how some people will never understand Prince's music and what it is really about. I never used to think that Prince fans could be so shallow and simple minded... but thanks to Prince.org, I can see there are many who fall into that category.

:clap:Youre right Rev. Prince was dippin his feet in hip hop at the time. Cream is about being on top. The finest in life. And self confidence. But the average music fan(non-Prince) says "hey Prince has a kinky song bout gizzum " His poorly visual paintings of hip hop were so... I better stop... China approaching fast "IT AINT ME, ITS DA TEA" stoned

Um, FutureShock, you might wanna cool down a tad! wink During the ONA tour you better believe that Prince wouldn't have played Cream because of the sexual innuendo involved...shit, he wouldn't even sing "Do Me" in "Do Me Baby"!!

He played Cream in Columbus, but I don't think that was the first time...I think he played it also at the concert before that...was that in Philadelphia?

I was SOOOOO fucking deliriously happy to hear Cream with the whole arena singing backup vocals.....my sister said that was the one song she hoped he would play. It's an amazing song, and I love how he told everyone that he wrote it in front of a mirror, and that when we got home we should sing it in front of a mirror. I love the whole "positivity" side of Prince, and it seems to be in high gear again after years of bitter negativity (IMO, of course).

I agree with you blueangel, Prince played Cream in Pittsburgh on 4/14 and the crowd went nuts. I think it sounded FABULOUS in the acoustic set and it's a great song with a postive "you can be anything you want" kinda vibe!

loved it, keep the positivity coming!! biggrin

Well in all fairness it is a play on words "CREAM" has sexual conitations as in Cream you will cop (or copulate) but yes its a play on words just like If I was Your Girlfriend

and you are right it is pretty amazing that the original poster could be a diehard Prince fan and not realize the real meaning of the song

My friend commented on "on the couch" saying he ain't supposed to say those things anymore. My thought was, if that's his WIFE, why can't he? isn't sexuality supposed to be shared with your mate? Hell, I was happy that he was singing about a relationship where there are ups and downs and his mate said, "don't think you're sleeping in here!" that's growth for prince

as for kareem (cream)...ya gotta dance wit da one that brung ya. cuz he sure did do darlin' nikki in BAKERSFIELD day after opening night in LA. dang....

as nasty as he is, i never was grossed out except for sister. why folks wanna act like sex is not a part of us i don't know. and dang, he's restricting it, right? cuz what u want me to do is one of the most grown up things i've ever heard him sing...and i'm so glad we all get to see it
