i dunno...am i liking Musicology?

hmm....it sounds like the logical step after Rave except the songs are better and a bit thought out. it's nothing like TRC but i'm thinking it's a commercial pop record (a good one) but the reviews don't match what i am hearing.
there's funk on it but not what i keep reading about.

I have to say that I am not jumping to play the album. I waited to purchase it at Best Buy and read tons of reviews on the ORG about it and I honestly have to say that it is "okay". The song that I am feeling is "what do you want me to do'"? It has the tight percussion with catchy melody sort of like "The ballad of Dorothy Parker". I guess I will have to listen again and again. But I must say that when I listen to any album after purchasing, if it doesn't hit me right away, it generally never does. Sorry Prince. But keep em' comin' anyway.

I'm TRYING to like it, that's for sure...with mixed results...I'm still annoyed by some of the album tracks, particularly Life O' The Party, and politically-minded songs, Cinnamon Girl and Dear Mr. Man, but definitely more commercial-sounding album than TRC, NEWS and One Night Alone...still disappointed though...but I'm happy with the success of the single, album, tour and his resurging career!!

i got it already. it's offa da chain!!

but the thing about Musicology is that i also don't hear any classic Prince songs on there. i'm not sure if any of these songs are going to make it like WDC or LRC or even Eye Hate U. the last classic one for me was 1+1+1=3 which was maybe the only classic track from that album. i loved TRC a lot but nothing else from that album is going to go down in the Prince songbook as memorable. that's how i feel about Musicology.

I would say the songs that u r most likely to skip r cinnamon girl and life 'o' the party. Other than those two songs, it is a good album.

i don't get how anyone doesn't like cinnamon girl. i hear a lot of people putting it on the bottom of their list and i don't understand. its one of my favorite tracks. life o' the party and musicology are both far weaker tracks, i think, and even those are still good tracks.

yeah, this cd is getting mad play from me...and it has been since 29 march!
