Prince:That's no dis to my boy Michael On Tom Joyner, while talking about Life O' The Party which features the 'high voice/nose job'line, he said "That's no dis to my boy Michael. I'm just making a statement: I never had my nose done. There was massive speculation but we never wrote it that way."
Tom Joyner then quipped that 15 years ago, if someone told him MJ would be in this kinda trouble....(Prince makes a disaproving 'mm' sound, Joyner feels it and laughs arkwardly...I wouldn't, you know....I'da said Prince first!!" Prince comes back "Ahhhh, it's like that huh? (with humour)" Tom lays the song and Prince just doesn't seem comfortable with implied criticism of MJ, as he 'mm's. twice more. | |

Sorry, don't believe Prince there. Methinks he was just backpedaling during that interview because he didn't want to be drawn into a conversation about MJ. MJ reportedly When he bought the ATV catlogue gave all the black muscians included thier rights including Little Richard i always thought he would of done it for Prince... Hmm....not sure where you're from, but around my parts that statement got LOTS of publicity. Every single person who I've told that lyric to automatically said "Hilarious, he's talking about Michael Jackson." Does anyone else think it's creepy the way Prince says "WE never wrote it that way"? Uh, who's we? Because the only person given credit for writing it in the liner notes is PRINCE. Okay, that's another pet peeve of mine...since when did PRINCE always have to be in capital letters? Once again, we can all blame Sam Jennings, aka Samnation, aka PeePee9. No confusion, no tears. When I heard the lyrics about "voice is even higher, and I never had my nose done" I didn't think of MJ, I just thought of all the girls I know that have asked me if Prince had plastic surgery since the 1999 days (they swear his nose got narrow somewhere allong the way), and the criticism that he wasn't singing in his high voice on Ellen during "I Feel For You"

IT WAS A JAB.. how can you NOT see that? granted, he might be clarifyin that he really hasnt had a nose job, but its related to his "rival" that has a squeaky voice just like prince. it has a direct relationship u cant possibly believe prince on this "my boy michael" BS.. How can u see the missey comment as a jab but the "nose" jab not on michael? does he have to give names for every jab? I wouldnt even call the missy one a jab anyway.. I think Prince makes it a habit to throw in lyrics here and there on every album that make absolutely no damn sense but to anyone but him so that everyone else can discuss whether he meant anything profound or insulting figuring he can kick out a few more album sales to those who simply want to hear it for themselves so they can join in the discussion. The man definitely lurks here.
