DOES PRINCE THINK HE'S THE MESSIAH OF MUSIC?

I THINK PRINCE IS THE BEST, BUT IS HE STILL RELEVANT IN TODAY'S MUSICAL CLIMATE?

Given how many popular artists he still inspires and how well Musicology is doing, yes of course.

I don't think Prince thinks he's the Messiah of music. He just does what he does.

He is still relevant. He just moves too fast and is ahead of his time. He's hard to pin down and the general public doesn't like to keep guessing. But musicians and songwriters will allways look up to him for inspiration. He's still one of the best performers of our time.

'DOES PRINCE THINK HE'S THE MESSIAH OF MUSIC?'

In a recent interview he said something like 'I don't intellectualize my music' so you can be pretty sure he doesn't think so smile
Besides, who cares whether he thinks he's a messiah or not? He can think whatever he wants, I just enjoy his work smile

i think he's too busy making music to think that he is the messiah of music.
re: musicology... somebody had to do it and who better than prince.
p has always stayed true to his craft and this is why we can hear songs like controversy 23 years later and still get rocked. he did it for himself and no one else.

mad props.

The history will read about Prince in stone someday...

Never has somebody (who was once something) thought he was the something (when indeed he used to be something and could once again be something) but now is nothing and you can't find somebody you knows something about this nothing who still thinks he is the messiah of music.

Prince is the best we will ever know in this lifetime. The others pale in comparison. He is totally unrivalled.

I think he is still relevant. From the Grammy's to the present (and everyone that mentions him) proves it.

I don't think he believes he is the messiah of music. Personally, I believe that its more of a matter of trying to spark something since none of his contemporaries are actively trying to push the ideas he has been referencing lately. live instrumentation and really taking pride in what you do. everyone refers to themselves as an artist nowadays, but how many really understand chord changes, or know basic scales? he has a major point when he mentions that music is so producer driven now. also, there aren't many new artists that are trying to be great performers either. perhaps a lot of them are either big on elaborate dance choreography, but they lip synch or great singers, but are boring to watch in concert.

that is a big part of why he seems to like people like d'angelo, alicia keys, badu, and beyonce.

the best performers knew how to captivate their crowd. they could play, sing as well as dance in front of their crowds.

prince seems to understand that with all of the praise he has been receiving, that he is in a good position to inspire younger musicians to reach for more.

I thought he was & is! I think he's going to save secular Music and take spiritual/religous Music to another level...he's music is the highest elevated that's ever touched my ears besides Christian Music, and there's no mistake it's touched from above...

as excited as i am about this....every artist that has had an impressive career in pop music is usually honored by the music industry (alive or dead) with a wave of media attention, only to be lost in the background again to weak newcomers. happened with the stones, aerosmith, tom petty, the eagles, zeppelin, santana, springsteen, and now prince.

perhaps there is a bit of a difference now because prince seems to have planned this. however, only time will tell how much he remains in the spotlight after the tour.
