Musicology is Princes first consistently comercial album since Purple Rain.

There seems to be something mysterious going on considering that Prince fought hard and sacrificed alot to get away from releasing work commercially alongside corporates, to be able to control his own artistic output through his website.

There was also his big stand on not playing Purple Rain as part of his ONA shows and made it perfectly clear that he has moved on and its all about the music he is creating now! Yet just a year later this attitude seems to be put on hold for the anniversary of his most commercial work.

However, Purple Rain grasped the widespread attention that then allowed him to present us his genius creativity in the form of ATWIAD and have a larger audience waiting, ready to take notice.

Is this now the start of history repeating itself, except this time with Prince totally at the control of his musical production, collaborating with corporate record companies to do not much more other than advertise and promote his albums?

Is this the Re-birth and Second coming of Prince as a commercial artist?

If Musicology is Princes new Purple Rain, creating a new audience for whats still to come, then we are in for for a definate treat!
