Old skool Prince VS New Skool HIP Hop RNB

So today i was at Cyber Cafe
Full of gang bangers and hip hoppers playing a war PC Game
so me i needed to do some research and i started playing a My Mix C.D. of prince
Feat Songs Like
Gett OFF,If i was your girlfriend , Emale, Joint 2 Joint House Quake 18 & over etc...
the whole place was jumpin
people kept asking me if that was prince and if that was NEW?
tellin me thats the best beats and songs they've heard
they didn't know Prince use 2 "Ball" like that
so im thinkin if Old Skool Prince is better then Whats out now?
then we really have a Crisis in the Music Entertainment!
what yall think?

I've been a hip hop head since 1993 more or less, and I started to get into Prince heavily a couple of years ago. I can tell you Prince does GREAT urban music. Gett Off and Get Wild are 2 of my favourite songs ever! The beat for Email is just WHOA! Pussy control, Pope, Letitgo, My name is Prince, Sexy MF, Hot wit u (yeah, I love that song!).... great urban music no doubt. I'm bumpin those songs all day, over other cds I got like KnocTurnal's, Westside Connection's...

Bottom line: I'd listen to Prince's more urban oriented music over most of today's urban music everyday of the week (except for people like DJ Quik or Warren G... geniuses in their styles).

Peace!

Impressing Hip-hop/rap fans can't be that hard, considering how dire so-called "urban" music is.

Well, that crisis has been going on for a while now.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

His Urban stuff definately stands up to (and in my bias personal opinion betters) all the artists that actually specialise in that genre of music.

There is no other artist that I can think of that crosses so many genres of music. Not just in their entire musical career but on each stand alone album.

Even from the first album, you have rare groove with In Love, only to have the more rock orientated I'm Yours only 7 tracks away, and on Prince, where did Bambi come from in relation to what was going on elsewhere on the album.

The problem with Genres like Hip Hop, Hard Rock, Jazz, Rap, etc. Is that along with the music comes an image and a lifestyle, and with these, there isn't much leeway in allowing your interests to venture outside its boundaries.

A shame when you think of how much of Princes music would appeal to so many if it was only grouped in a more generic way that they would understand.

However, maybe better for them, but definately not for us.
