I like Purple Rain, in that it brought MUCH attention to Prince's musical genius.

However, SOTT is, I think, a much better album. There's everything we need in there. And everything that P is about, and has been about.

Funk (Housequake, Hot Thing).
Sexy soul (Adore).
Socio-political commentary (Sign 'O' The Times, Starfish & Coffee).
Spirituality (The Cross).
Masculine vs. feminine (Strange Relationship, The Ballad of Dorothy Parker, If I Was Your Girlfriend, etc).
Sex (It, Slow Love).
Freedom/Fun (Play in the Sunshine, It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night).

It's kind of all over the place, but so is he. And, taken as a whole, the album TRULY represents the man.
