lyric booklet point number 2....

Now who transcribes the lyrics? Because the lyrics that Prince sings aren't exactly the ones transcribed in the liner notes.

Also in the booklet "U shouldn't of let me unzip Ur dress"....
Of?
HAVE Prince, HAVE.

And if U wanna get really technical, U're not supposed to begin a sentence with because.

Now go ahead and correct my post, I left some mistakes there just for you.

Personally, I think that the NPGMC's continued show of ignorance of the English language is kinda embarrassing...anyone remember "Saxaphone"?

I think "couldn't of" takes the cake though. Ugh.

When I read a song title like "If Eye Was the Man In Ur Life" on a CD sleeve, my expectations for proper grammar in the lyric booklet are automatically pretty low.

Well, I teach college freshmen, and you wouldn't believe how many times they write "should of" or "could of." It's as if that's what they're being taught. Harry Knowles at Aint It Cool News is always writing "should of" and "could of."

Maybe Prince is just trying to appeal to the new [power spelling] generation.

Yeah, but in my eyes there's a huge difference between purposefully distorting grammar for artistic purposes and not knowing basic correct grammar usage in the first place.

Of course, I'm bothered by the way Prince pronounces "CommoTTiTTy" in Dear Mr. Man, so there's no pleasing my anal retentive ass.

Everybody knows Prince and most of his fans are bad spellers.

The booklet also doesn't credit the sax player at the end of Dear Mr. Man (Maceo?)
