I really didn't expect it to be this good....

but it is. I feel like I've bought a really good album. And an important one too. This is the first time I've bought a new Prince record that has been excellent. Praise the Lord! Trult great music. There's not one song I dislike. Wow.b

Of course, I have had the opposite experience. Popped out at lunch to get it (Tower, £9.99) and have listened to it whilst doing my work. OK, I've only listened to it once but I thought it was all pretty uninspired. I do hope it grows on me. I thought TRC was great first time I listened to it; appreciated parts of NEWS on first listen - crikey, even enjoyed NPS on first listen.

This album is right up there with SOTT and Lovesexy. Nearly.

Yep, me too. The worst song on it to me is Musicology, and even that song I'd give 3/5.

Great pop album.

co-sign. I also was disappointed after the first listen. And I loved TRC the first time I herd it, too. But I´ve listened to Musicology for three days now and I fortunately can say that it DID grow on me. Only "Life `O` The Party" should have been replaced.

Yes. I listened to it for the first time this morning and I thought it was very pedestrian. Giving it a second go now and it's growing!

Although it took a bunch of listens, I absolutely love Life of the Party. Funkiest song on the album.

From the part where he calls "Horns!" on, it is a sfunky as he has ever been IMHO. I have listened to that aboout 30 times now and it get s ebtter which each listen.

On the same note, HATED Million Days, now love it (took about 10 plays to truly hear its melody and brilliance, especially the musical chorus)

Musicology - did not like the album version, now love it. Sort of like KIss, it seemed so strip down at first it was boring, but after a couple of listens...

IN my opinion this is one of his best POP albums ever. It was clearly designed to appeal to the masses as does not require the same type of investment as a TRC . \

I can listen to this album from start to finssh with no winces, just progressively broader and broader smiles. It has been a LONG time since I have been able to do that. Even Gold, while containing some of my favourite P tunes, had songs I just could not listen to.
