REVEREND NELSON, PLEEEEEASE STICK 2 THE FUNK & LEAVE YOUR REPUBLICAN FANATICAL RELIGIOUS VIEWS OFF OUR AIRWAVES!!!!

U know , why is it most JW's i know have 2 constantly gossip about everyone else's "sinful" lifestyles? It's tacky & ineffective. U know, that kind of morally judgemental thinking in the middle east has created a supressed society erupting before our very eyes! And religious Republicans are so vile in their tactics as well...it's just scary (and funny, actually) 2 think this man has appointed himself Master judge of Art and Morality!

This latest quote from him (though minor) is another in a growing list of examples of his new agenda, being revealed in his live performances and interviews. The trouble is, Prince (music period, 4 that matter) for most of us is an escape from the drab dreary everyday life most people live. Now the entertainer I love 2 blast in my jeep or harass my dj 2 play at the club or get kinky 2 , sounds like.... my mother????? eek

And yes by the way he has been a Republican Party Supporter since the early eighties, regardless of "Ronnie Talk 2 Russia" & other antiwar tracks he has recorded. This was revealed in early interviews with him on several occasions. Perhaps he may not vote anymore as voting is forbidden by JW's (although astounding wealth is).

I absolutely love this man 4 what he has done 4 music, 4 my life, 4 all of us. But if our peerless leader plans 2 use his refound global media spotlight to support the Bush Agenda on Morality...well I 4 1 don't look forward 2 it.

Silent Bob rolls his eyes and we all wonder what planet P is on today.

I've not seen any good reviews re: Jersey Girl... which is too bad cuz Silent Bob & Jay are HUMOR. And maybe that's why P doesn't like the movie...I wasn't sure if them loving The Time was good or not. Actually I felt it was kinda cheesy.

But I think it's just a change in sensibilities. I found myself at Glam Slam in LA in the early '90s cringing at rap lyrics relating to women. I used to actually leave places or at least go outside. Now had this been Jay & Silent Bob (the "f" song had me hollering) maybe he might have felt differently...also I think cuz that's what you'd expect from them, especially Jay.

The way the ads pitch the movie is as if it's a family movie. And the one review I read (from a paper I trust more than not -- not too mainstream) said this about the direction of the movie: "the real blame for this cosmically self-indulgent disaster lies with Kevin Smith, who directs like a proud father who can’t stop showing you pictures of his kids. And here’s the thing: The brats are ugly." There's more at http://www.laweekly.com/f...owid=2817. Now, I'm sure there are HUMOROUS moments (after all, this man made Clerks, Chasing Amy (didn't see Mallrats) and my fave after Silent Bob: Dogma).

Anybody got any good reviews on this? Are Jay & Silent Bob in it? That would elevate the movie to me.

U're sig: I know some guys who came back from DESERT STORM! (emphasis added) pretty messed up. Missed the "Head" days, but not the "Sister" days. Tried so hard to make myself like that one...like the music, but UGGH. Plus, Waiting to Exhale has been on TV last few weekends and they were playing "Head" in the club. I remember when they just would NOT.

I miss full-length Lady Cab Driver, and Stick and Get It Up (nooooo not TLC). Morris was on at the end of that movie, right? What was the song Jay was "singin"

The sig stays. I adore fight club, and i understand that quote and little differently to you. This is no World War 2, no matter what.

I listened 2 "Head" a few times, and it was just very trippy, different, weird and something I never heard before...i did prefer a few of the others ofcourse during that time...and i miss the cussing, swearing or whatever any1 wants 2 call it. I miss P yelling 2 the audience during Face Down in New York 2 scream back what he was swearing....i really like the way those words rolled of his tongue.

From a San Fran paper (sorry no link at the moment):

PRINCE UPSET BY BEN AFFLECK'S SWEARING Pop superstar Prince walked out of a screening of Ben Affleck's new movie "Jersey Girl" -- because he didn't like the swearing in it.

The pop superstar -- famous for his risque lyrics -- hates to hear profanity since becoming a Jehovah's Witness and has dropped the more controversial songs from his current hits tour.

He says, "We walked out [of 'Jersey Girl'] after an hour. Guess that's what happens when the potty mouth don't work for you anymore."

Prince, who once appeared naked on the cover of his Lovesexy album, is also urging his peers to use the Janet Jackson breast-baring scandal as a mark that such shockers should be a thing of the past.

He adds, "After Janet, we've gone too far. We've pushed the envelope off the table and forgotten there was a table."

"Jersey Girl" director Kevin Smith isn't too concerned with Prince's criticism.

He jokes, "I'm cool with him not liking 'Jersey Girl.' I f-- hated his album Crystal Ball, so now we're even."

It's all good. Prince can dislike Jersey Girl and Kevin can hate Crystal Ball. No one should get upset. We're all grown, right?

That quote was taken from the entertainment weekly article. he didn't say he walked out because of the profanity, he just didn't care for the movie. the reference to the "potty mouth" was basically prince saying that kevin's niche was movies that used profanity. since 'jersey girl' is not laced with profanity like kevin's other movies, that he was out of his element. more or less, smith can't make a serious movie without relying on his normal antics.

You beat me to it! That's totally why Prince didn't like the movie. He is obviously a fan of Kevin Smiths work and expected more out of the movie....that's why he split, he was bored. Everyone is just so ready to jump in P's case without getting the facts. In Kevins' defense though, he has every right to come back with what he said. If you publically diss someone else's work good or bad be prepared to get a rebuttal. Kevin could have really bit him in the ass with Graffiti Bridge!

That's okay. *all* movie lovers (not including koolaid drinking sheep) walked out of "Graffiti Bridge" for the same reasons prince apparently walked out of "Jersey Girl."

$4,562,778 gross for the entire run of "Graffiti Bridge" in U.S. theaters.

This after "Purple Rain" did $68,392,977 during it's run in the U.S.

I don't get it. Kevin Smith admits to being a Prince fan, but says he doesn't like "Crystal Ball" and some of you lose your damn minds.

Too funny.

Spunky

Number one single in the UK, Eamon, F**k it (I don't want you back) contains over 30 swear words. I am in no way saying that Eamon's song is good, for starters I find his whining voice annoying. The boy needs to grow-up. Hell he still a boy just like Prince in his early Dirty Minds days.

I have not seen "Jersey Girl" but I can tell you already that Jay adn Silent Bob are not in it. After "Jay And Silent Bob", which was kind of dissapointing, Kevin said that he was done with them all the Jersey characthers (anyone in the last five movies) and now apparently he wants to make family friendly crap that people won't watch.

Maybe Prince walked out of this movie becuase it sucks. It seems like after "Clerks", all of his movies keep going down in qaulity (except for the fact that "Chasing Amy" was better than "Mallrats"). J&SB was kind of crap to the point where I will not pay for a ticket to "Jersey Girl". It isn't the kind of movie that would interest me and Kevin's name being attached to it made me excited at first but the clips made me say "Oh, hell no!"

yeah, he did have every right, and it was funny as hell.

there were tracks on crystal ball that were nice to have, but i had all the good tracks years before, and many of the rest were just not cutting it. that release would have been better with 2 or just 1 disc.

Wasn't "Head" that Monkees Movie? mr.green

Listen to his MUSIC and SONGWRITING from dirty mind as compared to musicology. There IS no comparison. He's forty-fucking-five years old, seems happily married, still parties, and I'll be a son of a bitch if I'm gonna watch almost 130 fucking answers to a thread about a fucking lameass celebrity comment change the fact that he is a fucking great musician, he truly cares about his fucking craft, he cares enough about the fucking world to write and talk about it thru his fucking religion, songwriting, or knocking on doors.
It's what makes Prince fucking Prince.
I think it IS fucking time for a few people who posted to grow the fuck up..Just not in those fucking words..Prince is right wing? What the fuck are you talking about? He's COMFORTABLE BEING WHO HE IS! Funny alot of the fucking posers here seem more fucking concerned about how Prince she be rather than worrying about their own fucking selves.. fucking pathetic.

It's a story from a gossip column. Why is it geting so many replys? If Prince said this it was probably a private conversation that someone overheard. It's not like he's standing outside the theatre protesting.
