anyone agree?

the stories say that Prince was a slavedriver with St. Paul trying to get him to sing EXACTLY like he had done it on the guide vocals, and that it caused a lot of problems between them during the recording of the album. so why not just put it out as his own?

plus, so many of the songs are top-notch. i know that ATWIAD had just come out, and Parade came in early '86, but maybe it could have been a Black Album type of deal, put out around Christmas time with only a small promotional push....


i swoon at the idea of "High Fashion," "Mutiny," "The Screams Of Passion," "Nothing Comapres 2 U," and "Desire" being part of his official 80's catalog

Its timeless music that cant really be categorized ..at least most of th e m,usic. But it fits in now as back then. But an official Prince releease? Nah. He had biger fish to fry than to release that as his for one years project.

also, it would have made a great bridge in sound between the PR/ATWIAD era and Parade.

The FAmily has always been my favorite Prince side-project album. So many great songs. He shouldda kept them all for himself and released the album w/ his vocals under his name.

Ah well. maybe one of these days, if we ever get comprehensive remasters w/ bonus tracks we'll get his versions of these tracks.

I just finished watching THE FAMILY's 1 & only per4mance last nite, very fonky!

I know an original demo of "Nothing Compares 2 U" by PRINCE exists, but since I ain't never heard it, St.Paul's is the definitive version. Sinead's was awful and PRINCE's own live versions r a bit 2 Vegas.

Nothing Comapres 2 U and The Ladder aren't that far removed from each other in sound/style. and anything would be better than Tamborine. Screams Of Passion would be a nice b-side to something.

Many Prince's fans think that Miss Understood is cheezy but I love it, too bad it's still officially unreleased, I hope that Prince would give this song to anoher female artist , I don't know Alicia Keys or Gwen Stefani
