Well I really thought know off of Lovesexy was quite terrible.
I always skip or try to since its all on 1 track on the cd. wasn't too fond of the first track off of new power soul either I did like jam of the year though, had a nice little jazzy thing goin' on and i did like thunder too, but it had to grow on me. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Solo is a great song yes it is. i used to think not. until i was out in the desert and this girl in our camp was the "dj" for the moment and she put solo on. it was a strange choice...certainly out of all P songs to choose this one. but it was just the desert wind and this song playing at a very loud volume. very pretty. sometimes you have to be in the right place to hear and understand some of the more difficult songs he has. Damn u beat me! I was also thinking Can't stop this feeling I've got was kinda corny. Certainly not the type of opening we are used to. Hmm makes me realize this is a hard one. Not too many bad openers for a guy that makes the opening songs sometimes his strongest. Christian Zombie Vampires

i would have to go with The Rainbow Children-very looong and boring this has a easy answer..CANT STOP THIS FEELING I GOT..that song is corny! I will NEVER forget the first time I heard it, it reminded me of FOOTLOOSE!

JDINTERACTIVE said: My Name Is Prince. It would be interesting to know what Prince was thinking when he wrote it. I think it would be fair to suggest that he was feeling somewhat insecure as his star began to wane. The suggestion that Prince was angry that hadn't been a hit and wanted Warners to release another album of material perhaps strengthens this view if there is any truth to what I've read.
I find the song whilst OK-ish musically, the vocal delivery and lyrics somewhat embarassing and unecessary. Speaking as a fan, there was and indeed never is no such need for Prince to prove his worth as an artist. I can only imagine listeners who have no interest in Prince would find My Name Is Prince perhaps-pathetic? narcissistic? boring?... All this and no mention of Tony M! Good shout JD! It's either that or 'Can't Stop This feeling i Got' purely for the cheesy monologue that it opens with, also i happen to prefer the original version.

I like that track, plus it's a great opener! Man, Rave WISHES it was Thunder! Rave is el-stinko, but Thunder is just so shiny and polished with no guts, it's like like listening to chrome-plated ca ca. But, I like Arms Of Orion, so who am I to question any man's tastes? Love ya Boris. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Jam of the Year is a bag of shit. It's so not the jam of the year - one of the worst tracks on emancipation. Should've just gone straight into Get yo groove on. Rave is poor too. But NewPower Soul is the worst by a good distance. All the fellas say "woof" if you only giving up the bone One of his lamest lyrics ever.

hmm.. id go with rave too, but 'my name is prince' is definitley my favourite opener, infact before i heard this song on the radio, i had absolutely no interest in prince or his music, so this was THE song that got me started, i love it!

"1999"
The album version. Like every song on 1999, it's way, WAY TOO LONG! Even as an extended 12" mix it still would've been tedious. I never thought I'd get sick of that synth groove, but by the five minute mark when we're into all that unnecessary "Mommmy? Why has everybody got a bomb?" blether, it's become dull. The more common single edit is much better.
