Michelle Kinsey: Prince proves to be worth the wait again

Going to a Prince concert is kind of like giving birth (bear with me on this, it will make sense).
Prince, who performed in Indianapolis Monday, April 12, at Conseco Fieldhouse, makes his
fans wait. I have seen him perform two other times and both times, he made us wait well
beyond the start time printed on the ticket.

This time was no exception. The scheduled start time (7:30 p.m.) came and went and we
waited. And waited. I was getting impatient and threw out the words "ridiculous" and
"disrespectful" more than a few times.

The lights dimmed at one point, but it was a trick. We waited some more. Finally, more than
an hour later, he hit the stage. And all was good. The "pain" and "anxiety" was quickly
replaced by booty shaking and sing-alongs. Prince, as he always does, put on a perfect show,
proving that he is still one of the best showmen in the biz.

He cranked out the old school, he played the new tunes from Musicology. He even busted out
some acoustic jams that blew me away (including a mellow Little Red Corvette). He looked
great, played some blazing guitar and his voice never sounded better.

The wait was well worth it.
