Remixes Query.

Does anyone ever try and remix any P trax? If so, are you gonna let us all take a listen?

Also, what are the best remixes out there that you have heard, official or otherwise?

How I would love to get my hands on some real prince samples... especially vocal without the music!

One of the best remixes Ive heard lately has got to be the fat boy slim remix of WTDC...

I quite like the MJ vs P thriller/come remix although P sounds a bit like a smurf in that one....

Yes, I've done a few really, really bad remixes. Musical murder really.
Although, I have done one which I think is better than Purple Medley (which isn't saying much).

I don't have any intention of letting anyone else listen to them for three reasons :

1. They're crap
2. I did them purely for the pleasure of messing around and trying stuff out
3. All the songs and samples within them are copyrighted and it would be wrong of me to make them publicly available, regardless of whether or not I did so for financial gain.

I haven't heard many Prince remixes, mainly due to my slow connection.
The best I have heard was also Fat Boy Slim - when he played Brighton beach (last year, 2 years ago ?) he did a remix of I Would Die 4 U which was pretty good.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

I've got a few that I put together for the events we do in Tokyo. You can hear them on my homepage:
http://wing.zero.ad.jp/~z...i/main.htm

They're really simple, but were lots of fun to make and play at the events.

There are a-cappella versions of three Prince songs, that I know of: "Face Down" (on the promo 12" single), "Come On" (on one issue of the CD-single) and "1999: The New Master" (on that EP). And "7" has an acoustic version, which is just the voice and the guitar and a few other effects. Those are the easiest ones to make remixes for.

I heard that "Come On" remix with the "Thriller" instrumental. I thought it was bananas. Of all songs to try to combine... It was kind of funny, but I wonder why that person chose two songs of such drastically different tempos.

I can't mix vinyl myself, but my best mate does a fantastic mix of When doves cry with smack my bitch up! If you have both records they sound like they were produced with this mix in mind.
