How many pages does the booklet contain?

Are there pictures of Prince with every lyric or does it contain some of the NPG also?

26 page booklet, with lyrics and pics; including photos (5 of Prince, 2 of the NPG) and lots of little technical drawings about hearing.

Crap! I had no intention of buying it, since I got a free one at the concert simulcast, but thats actually pretty nice packaging (certainly the best P has done in ages), so I guess I'll be picking up one on Tuesday!

Is there still suppossed to be a limited edition with a DVD, or was that just BS?

See, there's nothing wrong with expressing your opinion, but you get so repetitive sometimes.

You said there are no production details....you mean there are no credits for engineers/mixers/studios/dates, etc? Did he do everything himself again?

I don't mean to make anybody mad, but this lp is real bad. A friend burned me a copy and I honestly have to say this is the worst Prince lp I've heard. Even Rave is better than this.

I can deal with the single but there are no hits here.

Does buying Musicology before Tuesday count against SoundScan??? 'Cause there's a record store around my way that always sells CDs before the official release date. I'm just wondering if I should buy it, even though it won't really count.

Don't sweat it, everybody's got an opinion (although you must not have heard NPS to say that! wink).

Anyway, you might try this thread instead http://www.prince.org/msg/7/87883 Since this one is more about the packaging than the content.

And on the subject of the packaging it looks cool to me. not amazing or anything, but it''ll do. He's definitely done worse.

Thanks for checking out the last news update of the week!

Many of you have probably heard rumblings about the new Prince and the New Power Generation, Musicology, which he debuted on his Web site, npgmc.com, earlier this week. Today we bring you the full scoop on the CD. The album will be sent to stores on April 20 via Columbia and also at Prince’s current tour stops: every ticket holder will receive a free copy of the disc upon entering. Prince had originally set out to release the album through all five major labels, but in the end, resorted to Columbia only.

All 12 songs featured on Musicology were produced, arranged and composed by Prince. He performed all instruments except where noted:

• "Musicology"

• "Illusion, Coma, Pimp & Circumstance"

• "A Million Days"

• "Life ‘o’ the Party" (additional voices by Candy Dulfer and Chance Howard, sax by Dulfer)

• "Call My Name"

• "Cinnamon Girl" (additional backing vocals by Rhonda Smith, Dulfer and Howard)

• "What Do U Want Me 2 Do?"

• "The Marrying Kind" (drums by John Blackwell, horns by Maceo Parker, Dulfer and Greg Boyer)

• "If Eye Was the Man in UR Life" (drums by Blackwell, horns by Parker, Dulfer and Boyer)

• "On the Couch" (drums by Blackwell, horns by Parker, Dulfer and Boyer)

• "Dear Mr. Man" (drums by Blackwell, bass by Smith, shaker by Sheila E and Fender Rhodes by Renato Neto)

• "Reflection"

The dozen tracks are all newly written by Prince; "Cinnamon Girl" is not to be confused with the Neil Young song of the same name.

Musicology was recorded at three different locations: Paisley Park Studios in Chanhassen, MN, Metalworks Studios in Canada and The Hit Factory in New York City. L. Stu Young (Sum 41, Dan Gibson) engineered the effort along with Prince.

Lots more news to come next week!
