THE FEELING MUSIC GAVE U - BACK IN THE DAY “My record company says I make too much music, they say you can’t keep up but I say I make just enuff music and nobody can keep it up like u!” – Prince 1993 European tour.
It was an Uptown magazine article that suggested Prince should have waited a couple of years after the name change and brought out a 20 track CD containing the best songs of circa 1993-95. We can all name our favourites, but basically it would have been the best songs from TGE, C&D, maybe even COME and could have included any unreleased songs such as Empty Room. I post this tread in response to both criticisms of Musicology and the recent threads on TGE’s lack of success. Basically perhaps too much is released for everyone’s taste. I know most of us can’t wait to hear the latest tracks but I have read many comments on how TCI is better than Musicology and how such and such track should have been included/excluded etc. Is not the case we either wait for longer periods between albums, so that a compilation of the better songs of that time period are released on an album or we accept the prolific output, enjoy it and look forward to the next. | |
