7,

The easiest way I've found to do this is just buy the tracked version from the German Amazon site. I did a couple of years ago and it's great. Much easier than using some program to separate them.

I downloaded a program called cd wave editor. Burnt the original copy to my hard drive and then tracked it.

Then burnt it to cdr and used the original cover/artwork for the booklet.

If you're working on a MAC, it will be very easy to do. I downloaded a program called Sound Studio 2.1 and not only tracked it out, but amplified the volume so I don't have to crank my car stereo to hear it. In other words, I "remastered" it as well.

Convert the CD to an AIFF file and select the whole CD to amplify the volume to your liking... I did 12% to avoid that icky bass vibration.

Then select the inidividual tracks, up to the precise second, in Sound Studio. Save those tracks out and drop them into Toast to burn the CD. Make sure you take out the 2 second intervals in between the tracks and burn away. You will get a seamless CD, and be able to skip to your favorite songs.

Add the 12" singles, and the 2 B-Sides for added enjoyment.

Oops sorry don't have a Mac - so will have to go the Windows route. The reason I wanted to break up Lovesexy is because I'm working on a MP3 Project, putting everything Prince has done on CD -- all albums and B-sides - 12'' inchers.

Thanks for the ideas cool

You can also use Nero:
-you just save the audio track on your hard drive
-you open a new cd project and select the saved track
-you right-click on the track in the project and choose "properties -> indexes, limits, splits"
the program creates a wave image of the track for you
-you play the song and stop the cursor where you want to put a 'split' and you choose the command 'split'
-you can always delete the split or move it backwards and forewards
-once you've divided the long track into more short tracks you click on OKAY
-the program asks wether you want the actual track to be splitted and you say 'yes'
-now you have the short tracks in your cd project
-last thing you have to do is right-clock the tracks and choose "properties" to reduce the "2 seconds pause" into a "0 seconds pause" by writing 0 instead of 2
-Once you close the cd project the original long tracks stays untouched.

Well, once you have the tracks seperated, you can convert them to MP3. To bad you're on a PC... I'm just keeeeding!

I tried Nero with no luck - it took forever to load and then locked up the computer. Hopefully I will get the project done soon. There is a lot of music -- don't want to miss anything

He did so people would listen to the Lovesexy CD as a whole. He didn't want it to be critiqued by individual songs. Pretty smart at the time, but as years passed it became annoying. Thank God for technology and being able to track it out yourself nowadays.
