Prince and the machines

why does he despise the use of "machines" (as he says) in music ? I think that if he wants to give "new perspectives in music" he shouldn't be too much old school. The use of computers and other digital equipment allows musicians to create new sounds. Sounds which can not be created with "normal" instruments. By the way, there are no "normal" instrument in my opinion. A guitar is also a kind of machine... Well, i m sure nobody cares about this subject so i stop !

I think he's more against the sort of 'musician' who lip-synchs and whose band is just a PC, and people who are more programmer than musician who basically just chop up other peoples music without any originality or musicianship on their part. All of which I totally agree with. Nothing wrong with using a machine to change a sound, as long as you created the sound in the first place.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

well what he is talking about is how artists tend to depend on those machines. i don't think he is saying that machines are bad cuz he has used them in the past but all he is saying is that there is not enough of real musicianship in the industry presently.

and also because back in the day when there was no such machines, the musicians had no choice but to play their own instruments or hire a band who could play them. that's why old school music is still popular because it sounds more real than the machines do. And i suppose u can mix it all up like P has done.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
