why release the album before the single in the UK why release the album before the single in the UK?
If he released the single first you would hope it would get top 10, now we are looking at top 30. I just don't understand the logic in it. Oh well I am looking forward to getting the album on Monday. I have not heard any of it yet, because I have waited instead of downloading. | |

to maximize album sales in the first week.
people that are only interested in the one song, but don't want to wait for the single, will pick up the album in the off chance that they might enjoy the whole thing. and since he isn't touring overseas yet, there aren't any "promotional" copies accompanying ticket purchases. believe it or not, sales are more important than chart-placing. yes, even in the chart-mongering UK. charts don't pay the bills. Its true tho, U sell about 10'000 of sumink over here and yr in the top 5. I dont really give a teaspoon of rabbits vomit as to what order they comeout or how plain the cover sleeve is im buying the whole damn lot!!! And the UK single release (as it stands at the moment) is on my birthday!! April 26th!!

the British charts are the only place where a #2 debut is considered a "flop" and where large amounts of money are bet on what song will be #1 on Christmas day.

But no 2. is sometimes (sometimes, mind) considered a failure just because the singles market has dropped so much over recent years, and depending on the artist releasing the song. We hardly ever have records that stay at no. 1 for more than one week anymore, because the charts are so manipulated that everyone takes a pop at the top slpt (and less sales are needed to do that now). Even rarer is a single which debuts lower than no. 1 and then climbs to no. 1. The singles charts are bullshit in the UK. | |

A teenage 'rock band' almost identical to Busted - they make my blood boil - I don't care if the songs are catchy or not, it's the principal, manufacturing these sort of bands with photogenic, easily manipulated, untalented youngsters means there's less money or interest to develop real bands with their own identity. The record companies are killing themselves longterm and they don't even realise it. How long will it be before Busted and McFly release a single 'accidently' on the same day in one of those 'battle of the bands' that the record industry love? By manufacturing bands and carefully manipulating the coverage the record companies themselves have destroyed the singles chart. It's not about how good a song is anymore. | |
