What is the most emotional Prince song?

I think its a toss up between "Still Would Stand All Time" and "Sometimes It Snows In April". nod

Purple Rain, my favourite song of all time.

"Oh honey I know, I know times are changin'" Powerful. nod

Yes! The Beautiful Ones too, with the most blissful frustrated rant I've ever heard in a song before.

I'd throw I Love U But... in there too, he sounds like his heart's just breaking as he's singing. So sad...

For me, If I Was Your Girlfriend is powerfully emotional. The guy in this song is crazy in love obsessed. Get out the restraining order.

My picks ('cause i can't pick one): Purple Rain, Sometimes It Snows in April, Comeback (mainly because we all know why it was written, not for the performance value), Another Lonely Christmas, How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore.

"Another Lonely Christmas" is a very emotional one, as is "The Beautiful Ones". But I would go for "Sometimes It Snows In April" and "I Love U But I Don't Trust U Anymore"...

Purple rain, the lyrics the way he sings it, and way it fits in the storyline of the film. its very emotional, and very inspirational.

I'm with you all on Sometimes it Snows, Purple Rain, Beautiful Ones...

But How Come U Don't Call Me? This is a very tongue-in-cheek song. It has emotion, but of a very obviously theatrical flavor.

When I think of emotional songs I think of the ones that are very sincere and straight-up, like the above, or...

The Holy River
The Love We Make
Anna Stesia
Papa
The Cross
Every now and then
There comes a time you must defend
Your right to die and live again --
And again, and again...

                This is so tough:

Can I tie two as one?

                The Ladder/Anna Stesia.

Prince can be at his best when he fuses God with love.

                Runner ups are:

                Savior
                Sometimes it Snows in April
                Vicki Waiting
I can't make you love me

'Purple Rain'. If I hear the first guitar chord, the hair on the back of my neck stands up and I get goosebumps. I know somebody who has to leave the room if the song starts playing because it upsets him so much.

'Nothing Compares 2 U' - the Sinead O'Connor version. When I first saw her crying in the video, it made me cry too.

'A Case Of U'. I know its a cover version. It just sounds really heartfelt.

Yeah, the second that first guitar chord hits, I just get chills.

I'll never know how Prince was able to capture the essence of wisdom, reflection, regret, acceptance and self empowerment so perfectly all in one song.

I'll tell you, with the way that incredible guitar solo builds up to those climatic soulful yells at the end, any pain I'm feeling just melts away.

Every time I've had a broken heart or had something else killing me inside, this song always made me care again and wanna persevere. Such a powerful song.
