Prince's guitar on While My Guitar Gently Weeps is amazing... OK, I have a new favorite solo by the man. I thought nothing could beat his solo on ICNTTPOYM from the SOTT movie, but OMG, I got chills when I saw and heard this one. I just got done watching my TIVO of it (Tivo rules by the way) and I ran to the computer to write this to everyone. I know it has already been posted by others, but if you saw this on the VH1 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame special, tell us what you thought.
If you didn't see it, check it out. Find a copy, knock over grandma to get to a TV, whatever you have to do, DO IT. The man is amazing. Prince my ass, this man is KING. the official GIRLY GIRL of the Lesbian wing of the Prince.org. Accept no substitutes!!!

I had a friend in the U.S. burn it on2 DVD 4 me, it's awesome! Totally stole the show, his facial expressions, Dhani Harrison laughing as PRINCE falls backward on2 a stage hand, brilliant, brilliant stuff, I play it once almost every day.

"R"... Hey Ron, Did he burn the whole show or just the Prince parts? I am still trying to get my hands on a copy. But I would like the whole show.

I love every second and I play it almost daily as well. I am all about the actual music myself but the stunts like leaning off the stage and the way he threw the guitar up in the air and pimped off stage are classic old school bad boy Prince and I cant get over it. I scream every time I watch it!

I have the whole RRHF show recorded on twice (on 2 different video tapes) and I have only prince's performances on a separate tape. The Guitar gently weeps performances is the one I can point to when friends/family say prince is not all that. I put on the tape (leave the master in the vault) and say "check this out". Positivity YES

I thought he put on an amazing show too, but it seemed disrespectful to grandstand in a tribute to George Harrison right in front of his son. However, Dhani seemed into it, so maybe it was ok.

I don't think Prince was intentionally grandstanding although it definitely separated the master from the players. It is such an amazing performance and it makes me think that a guitar has never weeped so beautifully before. It was like having George Harrison's sound/tone coming thru with Prince's perfection as this force freely flowed. There was nothing gentle about that weeping guitar on this night. The joy on Dhani's face made me feel like he was feeling it too.
