Prince's greatest all-time back up band?

All of Prince's career, he always had a great band. You have to be a great musician to play with Prince. That said, which line up was his best? 1987-88 with Sheila on drums? Purple Rain tour? Parade tour? His current line up? They are all great. My favorite is 81-83. Controversy -1999 line up with BobbyZ on drums, Matt Fink on keys, Lisa on keys, Prince's best bassist ever, Brown Mark and the great Dez Dickerson. Who's yours?

I'd have to say his "Lovesexy" band, that was my favorite. And I loved Sheila E, Cat, and Boni Boyer on backing vocals.

tHE ORIGINAL BAND WAS THE FUNKIEST AND THE MOST CREATIVE. HE DIDN'T GIVE THEM ANY CREDIT FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.

DEZ, ANDRE, DR. FINK, LISA ,BROWN MARK

Like you said, he ALWAYS has great bands, always has great players. I guess I'll show my age and say I LOVED the Revolution, though the band that he was using around 96-97 was great, too. The LOVESEXY band was pretty incredible. I saw one of the stripped-down after-shows with that band.

I like the Revolution for centimental reasons but NO BAND PERIOD could fuck with Sonny T, Mike Bland, Tommy Barberella, and that crew and yes with Mayte as the dancer.
That was his tightest band by far!
