Musicology is Album of the week on BBC Radio 2!

Just finished listening to the Ken Bruce show on BBC Radio 2, when he played Musicology. After it finished he said that it was the Album of the week and a track was going to be played everyday this week.

Cheers,

Flinty

and "Call my Name" was played on the Saturday afternoon show over the Easter weekend which caused spontaneous whoops of excitement from yours truly - to the befuddlement of my wife and parents-in-law who were in the car with me!!

The shame was I think this is a standout album track but I didnt feel it came over that well on the radio.

Plus the DJ (whose name Ive forgotten) said something crass like "and how long have we been waiting for a new album from Prince..?". Now I can put up with the general public thinking he'd disappeared after D&P but I'd really expect a DJ to have some knowledge of the topic.

Anyway. Album of the week on Radio2 is great news. It's the most widely listened to radio station in the UK so you couldn't get much better exposure than that.

I think that makes the album a Top 10 on the week of release for sure.

After the Wogan breakfast show finishes so 9.30 - 12.00 am (guessing). But I think that the album of the week gets wider exposure than just that slot. I think you could catch tracks all across the day on Radio2 all week.

Cool.

while this is indeed much needed useful exposure for the little chap, does anyone else feel there is something a little sad about getting excited about Prince being played on Radio 2!

makes me feel old....and makes me laugh when people are discussing the likes of Ken Bruce and Terry Wogan in the same breath as our hero!

lol

Prince has been around for 25 years now , so lets be happy hes getting good exposure for an album on any major BBC radio station . BBC Radio 1 are unlikely to embrace him anyway, hes not young and hip enough to get played there I'd say. BBC radio 2 are doing good work in breaking new acts in the UK and Europe anyway , people like Katie Melua , Jamie Cullum etc
so they might give Prince's sales a similar boost
Check out Chocadelica , updated with Lotusflow3r and MPLSound album lyrics April 2nd 2009 :

The album of the week is a Radio 2 thing 4 the whole station not just individual shows. Which is cool, cuz i've now heard 2 tracks!! bring on the rest, crist my mates have heard more of the Musicology single than i have... I've only managed two download the vid and watch it once so far, so bring on the album release.
