I must admit,
when I first heard the track "Sexme?sexmenot", I was not really that impressed.

But, this non-tagged (extended version) had me hit the repeat button over and over again!!!

It reminded me of the '1999' album.

Another one included on 'The Chocolate Invasion' that gives me that feeling (along with an update) is "Judas Smile" NASTY BASS!!!

Then I came to my OWN conclusion, that if the 'Musicology' album were somehow merged with 'TCI', we might have a proper "comeback"

"Call My Name" is slight in comparison to love songs from 'Emancipation', which seem to be, as a whole, unpopular in this circle. (just a lurker's opinion)

The sequence on 'Musicology' from "What Do U Want Me 2 Do?"-"Dear Mr. Man" is absolutely brilliant, IMHO. I am also hoping for longer versions of a few as the singles roll out...

I hope that someone will also inject some opinion, unless it was already discussed? I didn't find anything so far!

Don't expect longer versions, or unreleased tracks on the singles. We already know that the album when it is released to the public in stores, etc, will not contain longer versions or extra tracks and the first single, "Musicology" only has "On the Couch" as a b-side.

I think this is an indication that Prince is happy with the album as it stands and to be honest, after repeated playings, so am I. It's a definite grower, so let it grow. I think it's his best album since The Gold Experience and Lovesexy. It has definite potential to put him back on the map with a larger audience. The Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse are much more marginalised, quirky and frankly don't have the tunes, save for a couple of tracks. Musicology, the album, has the tunes and as a whole is a much warmer and rounded, polished release than the TCI and Slaughterhouse albums.

For example, "Dear Mr. Man" fades out. Just as I cought the flow on the first listen (a trick to hit "repeat"?), I wanted it to go places only Prince can take it!

I truly BELIEVE that there are more to these tracks as presented on the album. That was always the case. (I could ie. every album, right?!)

However, if this is going to turn out to be a major release, then that gives more room to expand the potential singles. 'Rave...' had it's counterpart because of it's commercial failure, methinks. 'Emancipation' had the same falterings, hence the "Promo-only" maxi-single of "Face Down" and the scarce "Somebody's Somebody." I still wonder what's up with "The Work, Pts. 2-5"???

So, if this 'Musicology' release is as big as it's intended and/or expected to be, then I am looking forward to the great singles I awaited in the 80's.

I'm getting a bit silly, but I feel that that's what we are all here waiting for, or else people here wouldn't be sportin' pictures of Prince when he was really Prince...
