Why did I sleep on PARADE for so long! Somebody slap me...I have had PARADE for years and years and never appreciated it until about a month ago..when I did listen to it, I only listeneed to side 2 BUT side 1 is the STRONGEST side.....is it just me or does Prince need to dust off LIFE CAN BE SO NICE?? That would shake the rafters!!!

This album is one of my absolute favorites. For me, it's a perfect Spring album...open a window then listen to Christopher Tracy's Parade while you're breathing in that fresh air and sunshine. Bliss.

If I could only have one Prince album it would be Parade. Why? The vibe of it. Other cd's have more music and some of my favorite songs, (but keep in mind that my motto is Prince songs are like Lays potato chips...you can't have just one favorite), but Parade is very special to me.
My cd right now is MIA. I am not a happy lady. My hubby had a cd player put in my car and now I cannot find my perfect driving cd. I'm firmly planted in denial

Parade's a great little album (though Prince thought it needed more work).
I've been updating my old expanded version recently, and have been really getting into these tracks again (though I must admit that 'Life Can Be So Nice' isn't one of my favs) Here's the tracklist of my expanded version... 01. An Honest Man (1:12) 02. Christopher Tracy's Parade (2:10) 03. New Position (2:19) 04. I Wonder U (1:35) 05. Mia Bocca (2:50) 06. Love Or Money (6:49) 07. Do U Lie? (2:42) 08. Alexa De Paris (4:52) 09. Girls & Boys (5:29) 10. Life Can Be So Nice (3:12) 11. Venus De Milo (1:51) 12. Under The Cherry Moon (2:56) 13. Kiss (6:59) 14. Anotherloverholenyohead (7:03) 15. Old Friends 4 Sale (3:27) 16. Mountains (9:30) 17. Sometimes It Snows In April (6:48) . [This message was edited Sun Apr 11 10:52:44 2004 by BorisFishpaw]

What I love about "Life Can Be So Nice" is that it sounds chaotic. Like an explosion of sounds, that suddenly, completely grooves.
Boris, your "expanded version" looks dreamy!!! I'm firmly planted in denial

Guess it would be impossible to split tracks 2 - 4 up; they flow together so, so well. I like the Old friends 4 sale after anotherlover too.

Parade is easily one of P's strongest albums. It's incredibly unique, flows brilliantly and contains alot of my fave songs...and it's the same age as me.

This is a great album but I almost always skip over Life can be so nice...This song should not be "resurected." Now Girls and Boys is still funky and the crowds go nuts when P plays this live...

But yea I like 'Girls and Boys'(Makes me wanna sing along, which I do lolz. Da beat is 2 koo. I wonda how he got the typa vibe 2 get in2 *UTCM* & based on that I thought that took place in like the 30s-40s era?),'Kiss'(Makes wanna dance 2 that song the beat is hot. I like the lyrix "Act your age not your shoe size"-classic!),'Sometimes It Snows In April'(Very touching brings a tear every time I play it. When I 1st got it I thought it wuzn't him cuz usually I neva heard P do'a beat so mellow 'n soft like in this song. I thought I got played so I listened & da voice sounded like P so I figured until I hear'im say "Sometimes It Snows In April" then I know it's the right song. & he did, newayz it's very beautiful) In 'Girls and Boys' is that a saxophone or sum otha typa instrument? Ahhhh...well said. Parade has always been my favorite Prince and The Revolution album. It holds a special place in my heart since it reminds me of my senior yr in high school and always reminds of spring. Afterall...it was released April 86. I will do today what you won't, so tomorrow I can do what you can't.

All the songs I added were used in the movie and credited at the end in the titles (though you'd be hard pushed to recognise Old Friends 4 Sale). I used the acapella version of An Honest Man from Crystal Ball rather than the instrumental piano version actually used in the movie, as it works well as a brief album intro. Mia Bocca is an instrumental version I edited myself out of the Jill Jones track, and Old Friends 4 Sale is the version with the original lyrics and strings. Plus I sequenced it so a lot of the tracks segue into each other.

I also did not give Parade it's props until much later after the orginal release. For me, one of the reasons for this is that I negatively associated Parade with Under the Cherry Moon.
The songs are all unique and very different form anything he had done in his career to this point. I also hold a soft spot for this album because it is the last true collaboration with the Revolution.
