tombstone okay you win... lol
i didn't brush up on my facts and it doesn't help that i have nearly 3 dozen jb discs. i turned 3 in '74 so no, i don't know.

I didn't set you straight to make you look like a fool. I just thought that the point of your original post was weak in the first place, and using an example that was simply not correct didn't help. wink

It’s all good. Keep in mind that the post was my personal views and opinions. I mean... Escape-ism live... c’mon now. I’d prefer Live at the Apollo II over III any day. Some songs are just better left as studio recordings. I’m actually glad that I got this lesson in Musicology. It’s comforting to know that James had yet to reach his peak. I thought it the other way around in that the funkier he got, the more obscure he got. Good to know the world took note of his post Revolution Of The Mind recordings.

I think Prince has been trying to say goodbye for years... goodbye to little red corvette and let's go crazy! if you want to see it that way perhaps Prince is saying goodbye to the hits he is tired of playing and trying to revamp time after time.
I'm an org elitist... totally unapproachable.

Thumparello

Prince will never be able to say goodbye to the hits. He has had his peak time commericially. He will not recapture that. So what is he to play?

This is a ploy to sell tickets and revive his career , which it has done at this particular point. All great artist have done this type of stuff at some point in their career.

Temptation

Marc I think your intuition is on target. I believe Prince has very big, non-musical plans after this Musicology phase. I mean, come on, 58 arena shows in America alone, and still counting? That's almost unheard of in this day and age.

Most acts do 40 dates and call it a major tour. Clapton is only doing 32 in the States, and Madonna's tour caps out at 37 North American dates. Meanwhile Prince is acting like someone who is stocking up for a long winter.

I hope Prince continues to tour and record at his own dizzying pace - but just in case, I hope everyone appreciates 2004 and goes to see as many Musicology shows as possible. Of course Prince will always make music and follow his muse, but this really could be the last major "go-round" for a while. Soak it up people!

I was listening to a live James Brown recording last week, I believe it was Revolution of the Mind a/k/a Live at the Apollo Volume 3, and to my astonishment JB covered Soul Man & Tighten Up. Never really took note of these tracks before but I wonder if P is trying to tell us something. James was pretty much on his way out during the time of this recording and it plays like a going away / it's been real celebration... kinda like Prince's concerts are playing out for this tour. Is the park really up for sale? Doesn't seem too far out there... abandoning past works and abandoning the place that they were created in. With the internet he could operate NPGMC from Egypt if he wanted to so I wonder if our old boy will be going into seclusion after this tour... perhaps fatherhood.

hmmm
