Why does Prince like releasing live tracks where he's giving stage directions? ie. 'Turn the lights off' (Controversy download), 'Stay here brother' (The Ride from CB), something to do with the cameras rolling (Days Of Wild from CB).
I'm not talking giving band directions ('on the one', 'solo' etc.) which are a great sign of Prince as a band leader - I'm talking about the kind of directions that make sense in context, but when listened to on audio are completely redundant. Out of the hundreds of version of each song that Prince has in soundboard quality, why release these specific versions? And when his 'live' tracks are so prone to overdubs and edits, why not edit these directions out? | |
