On Australian cable TV, there is a music channel called MUSICMAX. Last Thursday, they launched a new show called THE KNOW

To give u an idea of how this show works, If u live in Australia it's basically a complete rip off of The Panel (but they discuss music).

For those outside Australia, the show is 5 people sitting around a table discussing different topics (Kinda like 'The View'), or as they put it "a revolving door guestlist of notable celebrities and media personalities determined to discuss and dissect the world of news and entertainment as it unravels".

Translation?

C and D grade wannabe famous media whores who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about commenting on various topics while sipping on Frangelico cocktails.
Im sure everyone is familiar with Carly Binding, Yumi Stynes, Byron Cooke and host Andrew Mercado as "notable celebrities". The only "recognisable" person here is Peter Timbs (whose claim to fame is being a Big Brother contestant reject, and scored a job at entertainment industry rag "TV Week").

So why is the playa harsh on these guys at "The Know" (Or rather "We don't know")?

They decide to "discuss and dissect" Prince and the Musicology video.

They play the video while talking through it.

The video opens with the kid on the bike, to which they instantly compare Prince to Michael Jackson (and the kid in the video to McCauley Culkin), and saying how Prince is now "creepy" because he puts a kid in a video.

They then talk about how Prince is basically a SELL OUT because he left Warner Bros, wrote SLAVE on his face and is now with SONY.
They discuss this at length to which eventually someone on the panel had the good sense to say "Well, we don't know the terms of the deal he's signed with Sony" (Which is a 'press and distribute' deal)

They then bag out Prince for being a Jehovah's Witness. Sure, im not part of the religion, but that is just plain disrespectful to joke about someone else's beliefs. They also say that he spends he's days doorknocking and converting (which that story originated from CJ's "spies", and I thought was bullshit anyhow, but even so - who cares!)


Then it just get's totally beyond ridiculous

Yumi Stynes (who was the main offender and shooting Prince down in flames with her ignorance) explains to everyone how "Diamonds and Pearls" wasn't just a song, or an album, It was a metaphor.
'Diamonds' was a metaphor for a girls vagina and 'Pearls' was a metaphor for sperm, to which the rest of the panel react with "Oooohhhh, okay, I get it now" (with Yumi nodding her head with a big smile thinking she's schooled all the others on her bullshit)

There were moments where they did give Prince props (he's a genius, etc), but on the whole it was a negative conversation that gave Prince no chance of being heard through the music (because these guys decided that for you). and it went on and on and on.

After witnessing this, I had to see if this show had a website...and guess what:

Just wondering, did anyone else in Australia have the misfortune of seeing this crap passed off as a TV show? If so, what were your thoughts on it all?

Yes, it was crap, but they're ALL crap aren't they? Ironically for me, considering I usually hate the guy, Super Mercado (retarded name) came off best in his praise for Prince, but as usual he really knew NOTHING substantial and was his usual tosser self in the end.

I will try my best not 2 cuss on this part in respect 2 the JW. I'm not part of the religion either. I hardly even know that much about it a lil but not a lot. There's nuthin' wrong wit him knocking on doors & just explaining & possibly converting pplz 2 that religion.
